Question for iPod/iPhone Users

Post by kiwicelt »

Just wondering what happens when the iPod or iPhone is connected via the supplied cable? I'm getting the bog standard radio and was hoping that the music is still controllable from the iPod / iPhone itself. In some instances, the ipod goes to a blank 'accessory connected' screen and wont let you iteract with the screen.I have a Clarion in the current car that does a terrible job of replicating the iPod UI for music selection. I don't hold out much hope that the stock Scirocco radio will do a better job.

Thanks

If you push the media button on the radio you'll get the playlists of the ipod up on the car screen. You can then choose what you want to play. The name of the song shows on the MFD and you can change the tracks with the controls on the wheel if you have the multifunction version.

Thanks Kev for the info . Does it disable the controls from the iPod while connected?

I don't think it is possible to control it from the Ipod, only from the radio touch screen. Press selection and then the button in the top left of the screen to navigate the Ipod.

It keeps my iPod nano charged. I assume it's the same for iPhones.

Yes it charges the Iphone, mine is a 3GS. I also have A2DP bluetooth fitted, which means I can Bluetooth stream music to the car.

Cracking integration now for the Iphone/Ipod. So much better than my MK5 golf.
