Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I ordered mine august 24th it's been 6weeks from then to now without no news, I've rang them plenty of times they said it should be ok for the estimated delivery date, and DOMC to change a colour of a car shouldn't be to much of a problem I it hasn't entered the build process
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
as per my links on the previous page the build may begin prior to the week and everything is planned out based on what was on the order when it was passed to planning at the factory so after that point anything could delay it if they do not have the extra stock (see RW1's links on build & delivery process) with paint you may be lucky but I can't see that they would have loads extra.Rocco-liam wrote:DOMC to change a colour of a car shouldn't be to much of a problem I it hasn't entered the build process
As you have been advised of an approximately delivery of early Nov you need to know if the build date is frozen, if you think you have been advised week 41 then i'd say it probably is & it is now very unlikely you will be able to change anything without delaying your order & potentially it could go right ot the back of the queue.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I've just recieved an email from the lease company/dealer..My car has been built, there was a glitch on there system so its looking good for an ontime delivery. Just had a look on the ship thread and i hope i get the boat this week rather than the one that goes to emden.... I was happy with white anyway.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Placed my order beginning of Sept. Was told delivery date would be November but not received build date yet.
Leasing company saying that the dealer is unable to give a build date yet!
Trying to change my order from the 140 to the 170. As my build date has not been set should be able to get order changed but leasing company has warned that could affect build date, but been chasing this for last couple of weeks and nothing seems to get done.
Absolute nightmare!!

its notoriously difficult to get a build date if you are going through a lease company as they just want to place the order and take the money they don't care when the car is being built so they may say they can't get the info but its more likely they just haven't asked & don't know what they are meant to be asking for. if you are meant to be taking delivery in nov then i'd be fairly certain that the build week, whatever it is, is now confirmed

Thank youtrix wrote:
the DSG may be the issue, not great I know but this has previously caused delays on orders before.
speak to the dealer, be blunt & ask what exactly is causing the delay as its cimply not good enough

I did ask my dealer what the hold up was all about and it seems its because of production limits. She said something about VW planning a production line of 4 million cars in 2010, however 4,6 million has been ordered so far this year. I can ofcourse not confirm if this is the truth, but if so i can see why im still waiting. Why im not informed about this earlier is however another question. Will follow this one up more closely and investigate VWs plot against me..
Regarding late orders: Has any of you been given compensation in form of reduced car price, and if so how much are we talking?
It would be so easy to cancel my order, if i didnt want that bloddy car so much ><

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Ordered my white GT170 on 24th July, given build week 38, into the UK a week later. Drove past my dealers yeasterday and right of the back of the car park spotted a white Roc sitting at my dealers yesterday, still had the blue protectors on the bumper. Could this be my Car? Called the dealer who said it had just been delivered. I was Straight down to have a look. Can't believe how excited I was! Just as many have described on this forum.Got to have a sit in her, 6 miles on the clock, stunning car even though it was still all shrink wrapped in plastic, Anyway, collecting on Wednesday, 6 more sleeps!!!

The only thing is....I'm in canada until 31st Oct - Gutted!

I've still not got a build date and I ordered my candy White gt 140 in august, the problem could be the DSG gearboxReeceGTTdi wrote:I ordered my 2.0 gt tdi dsg on 8th august, phoned dealer today and the sales man said that there isn't a build week still as its still too soon for me to have one.is this true that it can take over 2 months to get a build week date? also when should i be looking at having the car?
MY2011 changes
Dumb questions but here goes..............
I ordered in September, it is shown on the VW system as going in on 8th October (they searched by address as leasing company being arse holes with the commission number, told me one that is not on VW's system,!) The expected delivery date is 8th Dec. Any idea what the build week would eb classified as, reason being I am keen to know if I am likely to revive the week 45 changes?

Re: MY2011 changes
as per all orders the general rule of thumb is 3-4 weeks for delivery after a completed build so working backwards from the approximate delivery of 8th Dec (week 49) build will be roughly around week 45 but as shown by the lack of discussion on the MY2011 changes thread its still debateable whether there will be any.mortc002 wrote:Dumb questions but here goes..............

(i've shifted your post to here as its more relating to what your build date is whereas the other thread is about what the changes rumoured or confirmed to be)

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
When folk say, checking the VW system, where abouts it this? Can I track my order once its placed?
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
they ring VW customer services and ask them the status of their order Don, through them & through your dealer is the only way you can find out when the build/delivery dates are scheduled for. customer services number is the 0800 one (UK anyway) that can be found on the VW website

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
The latest update from our VW dealer following our order placed on the19th August.
They have assured that we will definitely have "a car" (since we are carless at the moment) by 22/23rd December which will hopefully be the one we've ordered or a loan car if it's not ready. This will be 16 weeks from when we placed the order excluding "factory holiday". This is apparently their terms. The November date we were originally given was based on average waiting times at the time of our order. 16 weeks is their contractual maximum which is why they have to supply an alternative if the order is not ready by then.
They said there is a small chance that if a car to our spec (standard white 2.0 GT TDI 140 no add ons) were to come available sooner (ie someone ordered then didn't complete), they do try to match these to people like us who are waiting.
I should add for clarity this is for a business contract lease but placed direct via the VW dealer with VW finance. Two things I was wondering....
1) can anyone verify when the factory holiday is - just curious as to whether this is true.
2) is there any evidence that VW prioritise people who have ordered and paid in full to own a car over people like me who are waiting for a contract lease.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I have been told to expect mine in January but it will get here when it gets here, no worries as far as I'm concerned, I am looking forward to getting it but lets face it the weather is not going to be conducive to enjoying all the car has to offer until next spring or summer anyway.

Alaska
1) not aware of one between now & christmas
2) no that would require far too much thought & organisation!

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
I believe the shut down period was end of august yet whilst they told me my order was placed 19th august it didn't make it onto the factory list until 1st september due to this shutdown. Funny how this information has only just come to light.

Thanks, I'm still in limbo about my build date. Contacted my dealer yesterday, and all he could tell me was it is still showing as "pending" on their system. He has advised he will chase it up on Friday, but I fear the week 44 build date was a big optimistic.
Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
This may be useful to some people, the response from the lease company I've ordered through (Sept 8th)
“Currently VW are struggling to keep up with demand for the Scirocco and a couple of other VW group vehicles. This has affected lead times projected by VW UK to their dealers and subsequently the VW dealers to us.
VW have extended the finance completion date on orders placed by September, meaning that VW would still honour the prices agreed based on cars not arriving by November as initially projected.
At this stage we are receiving a weekly update from VW based on the 70 + cars we have on order with them.
Currently your car is not showing a build week and as with the cars ordered around the same time as your our VW dealer is not expecting to see these arrive for delivery before the end of the year.
I am sorry this is the first time you have been informed of this, I was under the impression that we had informed all our clients via a group e-mail.
At this stage we expect to see your car along with the other orders placed in Jan 2011. However we still do not have confirmed build weeks for any of these cars and so VW UK, our VW dealer or ourselves cannot guarantee when your car will be arriving."
Not great news at all, I was originally quoted mid November
