R's ordered in June

Post by cirkz »

Hi,

Did anyone else order their 'R' in June?

I ordered mine at the begining of June and wanted to create a thread to keep up to date with everyone else who ordered at the same time as me.

My VW salesman called me last Sat to give me an update; there are no updates lol!

I appreciate this is a june thread, but after discussing with dealer today, my March order has no build week and no further news. So I would not believe 20 weeks in my opinion.

Hi guys,

I ordered at the beginning of June (Blue, dsg with parking sensors) and today I was told that the car should be at the dealer around the 11th December 2010!
That would push my waiting time from 20 weeks to about 25-30 weeks (i can't be bothered doing the sums)....the car better not disappoint!

Keep it real!

Hi Stephen,

That's interesting news! Did you have to do alot of chasing with your dealer?!

What did the delivery date on your invoice say? Mine says Mid January!

Cirkz,

I've chosen to lease my car through an english company that I found online so I haven't received an invoice or any written details to confirm what I have noted above. When I was hoovering around in May I went to a local VW dealer and they were quoting crazy prices which promoted me to find another means to finance my desires. The leasing company contract is about £100pm less but the GFMV is 4k more... but the total at the end is similar and I have a figure to buy the car at the end so its basically the same as the VW solutions contract. This is the first time that I've bought a car this way...so I hope it goes well..

When I ordered the car...the VW dealer and the leasing company stated that there was a 20 week wait and the car was expected around October/November. I've been waiting on the 'new' system to go online to receive another update so yesterday the fella had to call 'their' dealer for an update, which took about an hour. When he called back he noted a general delay with most VW cars and the my car is due to arrive at the dealers on 11/dec/2010, which is confirmed.

I know this may only be telephone talk but I don't think there have any reason to lie.

I don't know a lot about VW dealer logistics but I would imagine that your dealers allocation is pretty small or exhausted. If I wasn't going through a leasing company I would buy one of the many R's on the used VW website as waiting in itself can instill its very own peculiar type of stress...just look at the activity of the 'are you on roll call..or something like that' thread!

Anyway I hope this help.

Keep er lit!

Hi,
I ordered my car in may, my est delivery date was early sept? I've been chasing a build date for the last few weeks now with no joy!
The whole time expressing my concerns about delays that id heard of (mostly from posts on here) I was told there's no reason why I would'nt get sept del?
I spoke to a different guy today who said he'd find out a bit more info...?

He rang back an hr later with bad news!!
My est NOT confirmed build date was week 46! November!!! With poss del of JANUARY!!!!!! :bang:

After expecting my car in a few weeks I was/am pretty pi**ed off :rage:

If I had ordered a new ferrari itallia or something of that marque I would of expected such a delay but not a VW!!

He also told me the delay has been the dsg gearbox and the sunroof?? So that would be all scirocco's not just the r's?

I'm thinking about cancelling my order i'm that pi**ed off.
I ordered the R instead of getting a focus rs, audi rs4, s5, s4, I'm starting to regret that decision now!!

To be fair to my dealer they have said they will provide me with a car from sept untill delivery as my company car is going back,
but i dont want to be given a polo or worse a fox to drive for 4 months! (don't laugh)

Hi All,

Ordered my R on 8th May and was originally told to expect September delivery. Now the new VW system is online I've been given a confirmed build week 44.
The only saving grace was reading this forum which prepared me for the date slip from reading other peoples comments.
I've also specced DSG so that could be the delaying factor although no mention of the reason from VW.

I really feel for all you lot, got mine late March 10', ordered early November 09'. So quick considering what some of you are going through.
Hold in there though, I know its easy to say but so worth the wait.

I just spoke to VW. Still no dates as of yet!

I must admit, it is starting to irriate me now! It doesn't help that VW's customer service is crap!

There is almost a complacency about them!

I gave up waiting on an 'R' and picked up a GT instead. I had ordered the R in June'10 and had a provsional build date of February'11. Gave up waiting by October'10. Pleased with my decision though as the GT is still a nice car and I save myself some £££ aswell!

They gave me a decent discount on the GT because I gave them hell! :grumpy:

Haha- No way! To call that optimistic would be an understatement! I' m sure they know full well that it will take longer but they are salesman so aren't going to tell you that!

I don't think anyone on here has had there's in the 16-20 weeks quoted by VW!

Cirkz,

I have ordered an R DSG and I'm being messed about by the leasing company...telling me that i may be charged 10% of the cars value if I cancel. Can you tell me about your experience of cancelling your order as I, like you am getting pissed off with this wait.

I've seen a sweet 2.0 tsi and an R (but manual) at my local dealer and I'd be happy with either one...the GT is DSG and I would prefer that over the manual R.

Cheers in advance...
I hope the 2.0 tsi is super. I'm sure it is....i reckon theres not a lot in it between the 2.0 GT and the R, bar a fancy LED DRL and a different exhaust configuration.... certainly not worth waiting for a lifetime.

Stephen.. no advice sorry, but the feeling of those who have a GT and now have an R is that it is an incredibly different drive and car :D That's what I am expecting when I get mine after an almost 12month wait!

If the supplier doesn't provide by the date stated on your order form then it should be possible to walk away with your desposit returned on the basis of breach of contract, if your thinking about such a route make it perfectly clear that delivery Is expected on stated date with no exceptions. Agreeing to a later date be verbal or written could be considered variation of contract leaving you still liable.

I agree with b0rk!

What do they need the 10% for? I could understand that if the car had already been built and you pulled out, but all they have done is click a few buttons on a mouse and canceling the order can be done just as easily!

It was slightly different for me because I canceled with a VW dealership and still bought a car off them! Having said that they did offer me a full refund of my deposit as they were unable to meet the delivery date stated on my invoice!
