Volkswagen are robbing b@$ta**s!!
Volkswagen are robbing b@$ta**s!!
It just cost me £15 quid for them to 'get/give' me the key code for my radio unit..... didnt have much option to argue because my salesman is on holiday and im selling the unit to a guy later this afternoon.
only had the car exactly 1 month....great after service.....
so if you plan on selling your unit make sure you get the code when you pick up the car.
grrr

This code - is that the same one that is supplied on a little black key ring? I got that with my spare key.Hughesy88 wrote:It just cost me £15 quid for them to 'get/give' me the key code for my radio unit..... didnt have much option to argue because my salesman is on holiday and im selling the unit to a guy later this afternoon.

Sounds more like your dealer bumping you than VW.

I can't see any sensible reason why the code shouldn't be given to you when you collect the vehicle.
Instead of them charging you £15 you should have tried charging them - for your time, effort and petrol in having to come back to their garage to obtain a code that they should have given to you in the first place.
Now I must check and see if I've got my code. I would guess not.

Re: Volkswagen are robbing b@$ta**s!!
i specifically asked for the radio code when i picked mine up the other week... to quote the salesman "oh we don't give them out anymore, you just ask for it if you need it" something to do with safety- numpties keeping the code in the manual in the car...
am i to assume this is more BS?? where's that VW questionnaire... need to refresh my views again....

That sounds similar to the line is was give, very similar in fact.
Even though I asked for it before I picked my car up, they didnt give it to me. I went back after a couple of weeks and got them to give it to me then.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!

Re: Volkswagen are robbing b@$ta**s!!
Thats pretty disgusting to charge you for that. Something that is yours by right anyway. It's like saying "yeah we are keeping the spare keys, oh yes you can have them but you have to come get them and it'll be £20 for us to get them out the safe"
Lets face it if someone breaks into your car they aren't going to leave the stereo if they can't find the code card are they. So regardless if you leave the code in the car or else where the stereo is still stolen. I also understand it's not all that difficult for the code to be hacked and reset so again not supplying the card as default is pretty stupid.
Sounds more like a dealer idea than VW to be fair to them. You should email a complaint to VW.
