SA radio/media in info

hi, sorry to divert off the topic but does anyone know which spec. models come with the aux in as well as the media in, im not sure if the models which are destined for south africa include the media in.

in the UK we get Aux in as standard roc, media in (MDI connection) is standard unless you have the RNS510 where you get the MDI connection or the CD multichanger.
I know the SA specs vary alot but do not know the specifics, perhaps one of the SA guys can advise you or would this be found on the VW SA site/brochures

thanks, this is what i pulled off the brochure

Radio/CD ‘RCD-310’ with MP3 compatibility, 8 speakers & Aux-in X X X
CD changer “RCD-510”, 6-disc front loading and MP3 compatible O O O
DynAudio digital sound system with 300W 8-channel amplifier O O O
Satellite navigation “RNS-510” - DVD, colour touchscreen, SD-input, 30GB hard drive & Aux-in O O O

It doesnt advise if you get the media-in with the Rcd 310 or
whether aux-in or Media in is included with the RCD 510.

Maybe i should calll the dealer, but more often then not we seem to know more than they do.

ok i might sound completely clueless here, but where would you plug in your usb device - would it be plugged into the Media-in or aux-in?
from my understanding the aux-in is a normal audio jack input

The media in (MDI) connection comes with 2 leads, 1 that ends in an ipod connection to connect your ipod to and 1 that ends in a USB connection that you can connect USB sticks to

I have come to the sad realisation that the SA destined models do not have MDI

For those South Africans who have ordered a Scirocco with the RCD510. It does not come with the MDI. It does come with a normal aux in. If you want the MDI it can be retrofitted by the dealer.
The part numbers required are
* Module with extension cable and wiring loom: Part Number 5N0 057 342 (5N0057342)
* Mini USB cable: Part Number 000 051 446 A (000051446A)
* USB cable: Part Number 000 051 446 B (000051446B)
* iPOD cable: Part Number 000 051 446 C (000051446C)
* 3.5mm cable: Part Number 000 051 446 D (000051446D)
* Extension cable for MDI interface 000 051 447 (000051447)

Last time I priced it it was R2200 but that was excluding the cables or fitting
