Just a quick heads up for everyone. I phoned VW head office in Milton Keynes the other day wanting to check out the situation if you want to retrofit cruise control to your Roc. The story so far:
I opted to have cruise retrofitted to my car as it was cheaper that having it as a factory fitted option. When my car arrived at the dealers they attempted to fit the cruise but the connections were different to what they were expecting.
It appears as though there was a hidden change in the week 45 (2009) cars that meant the current VW retrofit kit was made obsolete.
So to cut a longer story short the retrofit kit for post week 45 cars does not yet exist but will be released 'imminently' whatever that means! The moral of the story is don't be a cheapskate and order it as a factory fitted option so that you don't end up waiting like me!
Ahh well, I'll try and squeeze some discounted stainless sill plates out of the dealer for my waiting!

Options: Gone but never forgotten; Sumatra, Cruise, Parking Sensors, Flat Tyre Indicator, boot liner, hatchbag, premium sills, SciroccoCentral stickers & hedgehog! Ordered 23rd June 09 Build week 41 Handover 17th Oct 09 Off to his new home July 2016 after nearly 7 years & 88800 miles.
thanks for checking it out Ash, have to love the vw logic sometimes. I wonder what they are installing in the cars with cruise ordered as factory fit if they haven't got a kit ready yet...
Well I did ask that question. He mumbled something about it requiring different connectors and a new wiring loom but unfortunately I'm too ignorant about these sorts of thing to know whether he was just trying to fob me off.
I spoke with VW in Milton Keynes again the other day and they still do not have a date for the retrofit kit. According to the guy I spoke to he seemed to think that it had been released and quickly recalled due to a safety issue.
Ahh well. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze some goodies out of the dealer for my patience when it finally does come!

still nothing been heard yet but if enough people bug VW customer services (& possibly even germany) about it saying they are wanting it & when on earth is it going to be released then they may get their arse into gear sometime this century
Options: Xenon Headlamps, Truffle Vienna Leather, RCD 510, Optical Parking System, Rear tinted windows, Winter Pack, Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Sport Pack with Black 19" Alloys and Piano Black dash.
New here as I have just picked up my new scirocco in the past few weeks!
My dealer also couldn't retrofit the new cruise control due to it being a new 2010 car however he did say that they had news from VW that some 'accessories' are due for an update in the coming 2 weeks. Don't know if that means cruise as well but heres hoping.
Its ridiculous that one of the biggest manufacturers in the world cannot get a new part sorted for a change that they knew about!
an update on this, they STILL havent sorted the cruise out for 2010 cars. does anyone know anything different on this why is it taking so long for them to sort out a cruise control kit:(

No change that I am aware of since my post a few days ago platham.
Perhaps give it a week or so seeing as Luca's dealer says there are updates appearing in approximately 2weeks, I can hardly see vw bringing them out sooner than anticipated

Just for reference, my dealer is Ridgeway VW in Kidlington.
I have got to go back in there after the car's trip to France for a towing eye cover which was missing on the rear bumper when I picked it up so I will see what I can get out of them on my next visit there. Should be in around 2 weeks from now.
They are, giving them their due, being very helpful and have promised to lend me their Scirocco R as my courtesy car for the day when it eventually goes in! I am also going to try and squeeze some other goodies out of them if I have to wait any longer. Its not as if this change was sprung upon VW, they implemented this change!

Just an update on this issue, I went back to the dealer today to collect the missing tow eye cover and they still didn't have the cruise control available for 2010 cars.

I was just told by the dealer and by VW UK that when they have more information, the dealers and VW HQ are notified at the same time, so I guess we are just waiting around for them now.
I squeezed a free fitting of my RNS510 out of them due to the lack of Cruise Control kits. They weren't entirely keen on me suppling the unit but I insisted as I had the one from my Golf removed before the trade in..
went into my volkswagen dealer today and they still have no update on the cruise control. what are they doing? does anyone know what the problem is for them to be taking so long?

The issue is that all the stalks are now one on the slip ring , it can be done but you would need a new controller (you might get lucky and have the correct one) at £150 and stalks at £75

Yeah I have checked as well and its just getting ridiculous now. I contacted my dealer for a refund on the CC as there is a guy on the EOS forum (they are having the same problems as the scirocco) and he has got it fitted by a company in Hemel Hempstead who I have used before. It is £300 inc VAT fitted so its more than the £160 I was charged at VW but with 25k motorway miles a year, its worth the extra I think.
He does travel around the country for very competitive prices so if you want the details, just drop me a message.
Could be worth investigating the 300 quid option drop me the details and ill have a look.
Volkswagen must be losing so much money at the moment due to not being able to retrofit CC you would think they would be working flat out to fix it surely its not that complicated:)

i doubt there worried about that small loss TBH, most people got them retro fitted by someone else anyway, its possibly the reason they changed the design also, i.e making people pay for it from the start instead of paying £60 for the part and doing it themselves

I agree with Blue, its probably a design change to stop people retrofitting elsewhere. It was so easy before on all models that VW probably lost out that way.
Will have to see now if my dealer will refund the money I paid them to fit the CC...
