So, a word of warning - if you hit a Renault Scenic, or something similarly shaped, at a fairly low speed, then your beloved Scirocco will crumple like so:



I'm not usually a fan of the phrase 'epic fail' but it seems particularly apt here.



It's fair to say that I am the most annoyed person in the world right now.



It's still actually driveable but there's a bit of damage to the radiator. What makes it especially annoying is:

1. I spent 3 hours cleaning, claying and polishing it at the weekend,

2. I nearly overtook the woman I hit about 2 minutes before, but I thought, "na, let's take it easy tonight!"

3. The Renault was fine! The bumper was slightly marked and bent. Maybe just the height difference?

car does look very clean otherwise. gutted for ya mate. hope you get her back soon all fixed up.

You must be absolutely gutted, hope the work's not as serious as it looks. At least you're ok. How come you hit a Scenic up the arse anyway? I'd have thought you'd have kept as far away from it as possible, just in case its ugliness was catching...

Kind of makes me glad I didn't quite roll into that BMW I'd parked behind this afternoon. What handbrake?

reminds me that i almost hit a work colleague last night pulling out onto dual carriageway. there was a big gap..was expecting her to go with me looking out the side window. went forward couple of inches before i slammed on the brakes cos corner of my eye saw she was still there.

then waited till she actually went before i started looking out the side window for a gap. scary.

We were coming up to a roundabout, which was a bit backed up on the opposite side, but there was nothing at all coming round from the right. The woman in front slowed, then started to go, so I had a glance to the right to check there was still nothing coming, I look back, and all of a sudden she's not moving! No idea why!

Anyway, I managed to get my foot on the brake but it had been raining lightly all day (Scotland, what can I say) and the road was pretty greasy. I barely felt the impact so I couldn't believe how much damage there was.

But at least it's only metal. That can be fixed. Better than broken bones etc.

oh no ego at everyone has said at least you are ok & it looks to me its just the bonnet, headlight & gloss grill between the headlights

i had a few roundabout scares in my life, so nowadays, i just wait until the car in front clears before i decideds to accelarate or not. best not to trust.

Cheers guys. My old Seat Ibiza got rear-ended in a similar way a while ago - some doctor in a big gold Beemer who had never crashed in his life. I'll just be really aware of leaving plenty of room now (for a while at least).

Bit less stressed now; sorted out insurance and repair etc. And found out that my office are covering the £250 excess, which is a bonus. Anyway, looks like I'll be enjoying a 1.2 corsa or something similar for the next few weeks...

Unlucky mate, i feel for you I really do.
However, if it makes you feel any better, my Scirocco was less than an hour old when a kind old soul in a Mitsubishi Pajero reversed into it doing similar damage. It then turned out due to an 'oversight' by his wife he wasn't insured. That said he paid up like a goodun for all the repairs to mine. So after a 14 week wait for delivery and about 40 minutes of owning it I had another two week wait whilst it was repaired.

Two weeks ago, I stupidly trashed the front end of my car at a roundabout. Last night I got it back:



Looks pretty good, although the right headlamp doesn't seem 100% snug against the bumper - probably just being pedantic though...

Looks good. A quicker turn around than my car was - 8 weeks I was without my car lol.

I had a similar accident not long ago in my Scirocco - approaching a roundabout, nothing coming round, I take a precautionary final glance right just to make sure and the cars in front of me had stopped giving away to NOTHING! Was very frustrated!

The damage was no where near as bad as yours though, and I seriously felt the impact, my sat nav on my passenger seat flew into the footwell! Such a horrible feeling, glad to see you got it back egobreed!
