DRL = Rear Lights Too?

Help! Think I'm going mad...

When the light switch on my 10-plate 'Roc is set to auto (or off), the rear lights (and number plate lights) are on in broad daylight - in addition to front dipped & sides.

Is this the same as everyone else?

A friend of mine has a 2.0 GT 170 Tdi on a 59-plate and he swears blind that his rear lights aren't on in daylight. I saw a viper today with Xenons and his rear lights weren't lit either. That said, saw a black one earlier in the week and his rear lights there were on.

Yep mine are on. Black 10 plate.

I've got an 09 (non-xenon) and my rears are on all the time.

Phew, thanks guys. It's not just me then. :p

Wonder why that is? Noticed the Mk VI golf only appears to have front DRLs along with other cars like the A5 and Fiat 500. Does the imminent legislation cover rears too?

Don't think so ! VW quick solution on the Roc appears to be, just switch on dipped headlights! Not exactly the proper implementation of DRLs. Can't switch mine off and my dealer refuses to switch them off for me.
