Somebody on another forum says that you can't change the startup splash screen on the RNS-510 from one marque to another i.e. change it from the Seat or Skoda startup image to the VW one.
Is this true? I can't believe it tbh... I couldn't imagine VW would be that inflexible with their stock.
I've looked all over the web inc. VW Navi. Lots of people have asked the question but nobody has given an answer
Cheers

You would think it must just be a file on the system somewhere that can easily be changed. Is the screen not slightly different if you have Dynaudio?
Its a bit like changing the theme on the RCD510. I've read you can change it on the RNS unit through VAG-COM but not on the RCD one, but I find it very hard to believe there isn't a setting on a hidden menu somewhere. Otherwise how do VW set the different themes in the factory?

you can set 3 different themes via vag com and you can/ could also set the dynaudio via vag com too, but there is no option for the splash

it is a coding change but not via VCDS, there is a tool but its about 1500 euros, i will dig out a link, i didnt recommend it before as i thought the OP wouldnt want to pay this

Yep, it does say something about being powered by Dynaudio on the screen when it's first started up.
I have Dynaudio, but once it locked up and when it reset itself it had a standard splash screen without the Dynaudio logo :/ Came back after I turned it off and back on (classic fix there) and has been there since. Possibly more than one splash screen stored in the unit?

€1500... Think that you are right on that one. Wonder how many they have sold. And, why would you want to clear the serial unless you had just robbed the unit?
I was thinking more along the lines of a hack on the firmware cd.
