Anti-Hijack Systems

Post by caprinolaw »

Can anyone recommend best value products to use? (Trix... ;))

Are these things self install or do they require a garage to do so?

how do you mean anti hijack.. my 'anti hijack' i have in my profile.. which was put on with vagcom (its an option in there somewhere) that basically means the doors auto lock once you get over 10mph & can only been opened from the inside by the handles or unlock button on the drivers door until you turn the engine off..

Do you mean a system that requires a secret button to be pressed ?, or one where you carry a small transponder about your person and when this leaves the car the car cuts out ?, or one like the Clifford black jax ?

I had in mind something like the clifford black jax but to be honest if you can activate auto-lock on the VAGCOM ill stick with that!

On the subject of the black jax i noticed a product called 'autowatch' pops up a lot.

Like you say, basically a system that immobilises the car if a code isnt input when driving.

You don't need a VAGCOM to activate the auto-lock function on your car it can be done in the settings menu on the Multi Function Display.

Autowatch is a hidden button and the car wont start or cuts out if the button isnt pressed within a certain time after starting the car

Richwill: If you have the high level MFD on a GT then you're fine, but for non-GT drivers, Vagcom will have to do this.

I prefer the South African anti hijack devices - flamethrowers coming out of the sills.

My mate had an anti-hijack system installed on a car a few years ago, but it was nothing but a nuisance in my mind as everytime you opened the diver or passenger door, you had to type the code in. After a very short while, that would get on my t*ts.

Besides which, it was deemed highly likely by the insurers that it was this system that became faulty the one night and burnt his car out - true story.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!
