Ownership - Boys or Girls?

Post by Kev »

I'm curious what the male/female ownership spread is like. We seem to have got a lot of new members recently who look female from their usernames :) When the site first started it was fairly male dominated. That seems to be changing.

I've left the poll so you can select both if you happen to share the car with a partner. The result might be slightly skewed as guys are probably more likely to surf for owners clubs but it would be interesting to see the numbers.

Im a girl
There again as im nearing 40  maybe a bit old to say im a girl

Im a bit of a tomboy though went through a "Small Cute and Girly" car phase but recently decided i like a larger and more solid look to my cars

Just sold on a Classic Rover Mini that myself and my partner have owned and bankrolled  (also know as restoration apparently :shake: ) and that was without doubt my last old small classic car

My daily is a Mkv Golf not a GTI just a run of the Mill Match but hes soo solid and reliable thats we we decided to order our Rocco as its the best of both worlds

probably not your average female car owner,i do plan on getting another classic car again as well as owning a Roc but i want something a little larger than a Mini,a Mercedes W123 series :vibes: ;) :yummy:

I'd have thought that not so many females ventured onto a car forum, hence the percentages. I see more males than females in the Scirocco, but there's a fair few being driven by women of a certain age now (self included); reckon it's around 75/25 male/female.

I hate to say this but whilst not all blokes will acknowledge another Scirocco driver, most women seem oblivious to other Sciroccos in their vicinity and don't even seem to look at other 'rocs. I'd a woman follow me up Crickley Hill last week, then onto the 417 towards Cirencester. She was in an identical Candy 10 plated 170 tdi, followed me for easily ten miles but didn't even glance over as she passed.

The only reason I know anything about cars at all is that I have to pick a new one every 80,000 miles or so, one that I'm going to spend 20/30 hours in every week in. When I think back to the days when I just drove to work/the shops/pub all I cared about was whether the car would get me there and if it looked pretty. Maybe most of the female drivers are like that, and just ordered a new shape Golf style thing to go shopping/to the hairdressers in hence they don't have the interest in their cars that we* have.

*'we' being the good posters on this forum, male AND female.
