Fire Extinguisher

Post by Malcolm »

Anyone mounted one sensibly? We need 2Kg ones for the equipment we demo/sell etc and the strap in the boot doesn't work! Could drill into boot area or under glovebox just don't like aimlesly throwing screws around!

I have a smaller one and keep it under the passenger's seat. From time to time it slides forward, but it's easier to put in back in its place than hearing it rolling all the time in the boot.

Looks interesting. Shall I play guinea pig then?! Need indicator lense, fog light may as well just let them rob me for the whole lot!! Prefer 2Kg but that is asking a lot in a confined area........ Only seeing this on fone but guess its a glovebox bracket underneath? Nice find.....

You can just squeeze it under the back seats in the middle just behind the armrest...

With kids clambering over it the thought of that pin getting kicked out doesn't bear thinking about!! Have looked at rear but avoided for this reason!

Okay - you all sitting down. Eventually had time this week to chase this quote.

The fitting kit as kindly found by robnx is £40.09, the 1Kg extinguisher £142.70 and wait for it.......

£109 to fit!!!!!!!!! (got down from £129!)

That together with a foglight, indicator light an labour was a cool £363.11+vat (£426.65)

Recon a local garage will fit that lot for £100....... plus a 1Kg extinguisher is £12.99 online.......

Foam is fine as long as it's non electrical obviously and if you have Powder do not use it in a confined space, unless you are outside.

Prob go foam, its not actually for the car more for the equipment we sell/demo I need it.
I will certainly throw pics up of this £40 bracket once I sort but need to go in to pay unless anyone got a dealer who takes cards over fone and posts spares?? I will get local mechanic to fit - can only be 2 screws into glovebox which may even do in situ without lid coming off?

We'll see. Priority next week is new puppy unofrtunately so we'll all have to wait unless I can do online/over phone which Citygate won't do!
