Another Happy Scirocco Owner... At last!

Post by MD07 »

Having ordered my Rising Blue Scirocco GT 2.0 (210) tsi, at the end of February it arrived at the dealers at the end of April and there it sat until my previous car (boring Volvo XC90) was returned at the end of June, which meant I finally picked it up on the 1st July. The wait has been unbearable not only for me but also my family who have had to put up with me, I even had a countdown on the calendar.

The last thirteen days have flown by and I have been to busy putting 1,600 miles on the car to sit down and thank all of you at Scirocco Central for your invaluable help and advice. There is no doubt that without the forum I would not have ended up with such a good deal or specification. I must also say that despite some initial communication issues, the dealer Gilbert Lawton in Macclesfield have been excellent, they agreed to a very fair deal and even installed the covered cupholder, metal pedals that I had acquired from another dealer and HKB Variants sill protectors for me. I would definately reccomend their Sales Manager Steve Heron.

There were times whilst I was waiting for the car to arrive on my drive that I worried that maybe I should have gone for the economy of a 170 diesel and then other nights I thought that maybe I should have gone for an R but guess what my car is perfect just the right balance of performance and economy versus cost. It really is the most practical impractical car that you can get. I really am thrilled with it and every time I get in it I smile and hardly a day has gone by without someone saying what a nice car it is.

I have tried to download some Jpeg photos, but unfortunately without success, but if you see a Rising Blue GT in Manchester or Cheshire and a guy with a big grin on his face, give me a wave. :D

Hi MD07,

Glad to see you are enjoying your Scirocco at last. Looks good!

GL Macc. are good. Very good of them to put those extras in for you.

Helped Steve Heron on Scirocco Launch Weekend at Macc. in August 2008 with my Silver Mk2. Steve had a Silver Mk3 2.0ltr DSG as the launch car. Made me smile at the end of the weekend.... 10 orders for the Mk2!, 3 for the Mk3. Bought my first 3 Scirocco Mk2s off them going back to the early 1980's when they were historically Links in Buxton and then to the other side of Macc.

Unfortunately didn't buy my new Scirocco from there, first time in 30 years :(. I got offered a deal in Stockport I couldn't refuse while on the way there that day.

I'm usually knocking about Bramhall/Poynton/Woodford/Wilmslow and that side of Macc., so should see you around.

All a matter of personal taste, I suppose.

Mine is Sumatra (and I'm well chuffed with it), but when I was scouring the country looking for the best deal I called with a salesman in Cookstown. He told me a Rising Blue Scirocco went past his showroom every day; in his opinion Rising Blue (or Red) looked the best. One of the reasons why I almost chose Blue :D

BTW MD07, your car certainly looks the business!

Thanks for your messages, I am really pleased with my Scirocco, Rising Blue is even better than I had hoped and I am still smiling every time I get in it. I also nearly went for Sumatra, but Rising Blue was the colour for me. :D

I last had a metallic black mark 2 GTII in the early 90's which was cool back then, but this is so much better. I am looking forward to getting over to North Wales as soon as I can to take my car round the Evo triangle. Has anyone else given it a go? 8)

I am often around Wilmslow area RW1, so look forward to seeing you around.

I know how you are feeling Sciroccosteve, still just one more sleep. :hyper: I hope you have a free weekend to run it in.

I guarantee that you will love it, it is a brilliant car and looks amazing in Rising Blue. You get so many people saying that's a nice car as well. As you can see from my earlier comments I was a bit worried that maybe I should have gone for an R but the 2.0 tsi is good enough for our roads.

You will have a smile on your face all weekend... :D IMO the metal pedals and sills really make it too. If I were you I'd get the covered cup holder as well, it finishes it off nicely.

Have a good day tomorrow and don't forget to check that they have given you your Ipod lead. :vibes:

when i ordered mine nearly two years ago i had a similar issue of rising blue or sumatra, press cars were rising blue so hence my choice having not seen a sumatra in the flesh
