So how many miles do you do a year?

Post by caprinolaw »

Id be interested to know how many miles people drive (on average) per annum and see whether there is any direct link between the choice of TSI or TDI engines.

(Id put a poll up but dont think my current permissions allow)

Ill Start...

25,000 to 30,000

approx 16k miles a year in a 2.0 tsi :-) average 30-35mpg (as per the computer) on most 20mile journeys to work and about 320 miles between petrol tank fills

I had 8500 on the clock when I had the 12 month service in April (2.0 TSI). That's a whisker over what I'd normally do. My old car was around 7500/yr.

I do a lot of town commuting so I probably only average about 26-28mpg but on long runs I easily do 32ish. I got stuck behind a lorry going to Cheltenham the other day doing 40mph for several miles and I saw the heady heights of 38mpg! :)

Not got my Roc yet, but currently I've been doing around 6.5k max a year
In answer to OP's question, yes it had a bearing on my choice of engine. I think I'll get a bit more of an exciting drive in the TSI, which is worth the trade off in fuel consumption considering my low mileage. The added cost of the base TDI came into play as well.

Of course, if my circumstances change and I end up doing dramatically more mileage, then I'll lose out (this has been playing on my mind a bit; wondering if I made the right choice, but I'm sure I'll forget it once the TSI arrives :D )

I usually cover over 30,000 miles, currently on track for about 32,000 this year in a 2.0 TSi. My local petrol station love me! :D

Have done 8.5k in a year and a half and computer shows average consumption in that time to be 33mpg. Fuel tank range is usually just over 400 miles and that's mostly town driving. Revo doesn't seem to have affected the fuel consumption negatively at all.

At the moment I get around 500 miles per tank. Which is good considering its new, and in theory MPG should get a bit better with age. My old 1.8 Ford Tdi did 500 at new, then after two years was doing 650.
