Build Info Query

I'm from South Africa. I ordered a Scirocco from the local dealer but when he sent me a confirmation from VW, it had the wrong spec radio. I wanted the RCD 510 but on his order it reflects RCD310.

While it may be different in SA, if its like the UK, what's on the Order form, is generally what you get. You could always phone VW customer services up and ask them, but I fear they will just say "Well on the order form is X"...

Thats what I'm afraid off. Stupid dealer. Well, i guess they will just have to rebuild a new one for me then..and i'll have to wait another couple months... thanks for the reply Stuaz

Hi im also from SA, a sales guy from Hatfield VW Bryanston, told me the Roc no longer ships with the RCD510, so I would double check that, and make sure u not paying for something u not going to get.

Howzit Dees.. Thats the same dealership i ordered the vehicle from but the sales agent did not mention this. Did he give u any reason why it doesnt have the RCD510?

get on to them quick & find out what they are going to do for you
if you have paid for the RCD510 rather than the RCD310 or they are going to bill you for the RCD510 tell them they will be fitting one from one of their other vehicles before you take delivery & accept the car
its shocking & unacceptable that they just shrugged off a mistake & carried on regardless.

Thanks Trix... I suddenly got a reply this afternoon with the correct spec on the document. I dont know if i should believe it or not. It took for me to complain to head-office to get a response. I dont think thats the way dealerships should do business. I guess i will have to will have to phone them everyday otherwise my car will be sitting at the dealership because

hmm fishy, when you take delivery do not sign or pay anything until you have checked the car to see that the correct radio is included (assuming its on the invoice too)

I shall do that. Apparently a lot of Sciroccos still sit at the dealerships in South Africa because the sales agents are getting the specs wrong. The dealership can keep mine also if its not the correct radio. Very bad experience. I would go out and get a Megane if i didnt like the Roc so much.

I know all too well about getting wrong orders delivered....

Glad to here that you have some kind of response though, but as Trix said - double check the car when you get it - don't be blown away by the greatness of the car and if it is the wrong radio - no doubt the Salesman will try and get you to take it. So stick to your guns!

at least a radio can be corrected quite easily without having to get the whole car built again

I just got feedback from VWSA Customer service.. The sales agent at HATFIELD BRYANSTON loaded the vehicle with the wrong spec radio and the car is in the build stage.
HATFIELD sales agents suck. They didnt even bother to update me about the situation. They just went ahead with the wrong spec. More bad service from VW dealerships on South Africa, and this is not the first. HATFIELD.. YOU SUC.

you can have mine, but its the 1.4 + Revo I have been feeling the need to get myself a 2.0 DSG

I also had great service from Hatfield... I ended up dealing with the sales manager because the orginal sales guy left. If the car ends up with a RCD310 get them to supply the RCD510 and fit it at no cost. Also just confirm that the Order you signed has the RCD510 on it.

The wait is worth it...I waited 3 months for mine... it was the longest 3 months of my life.

Btw once you have the VIN number.. Which the sales person should be able to give you once it is built you can logon to Erwin and check the Spec. Last time I checked it was R40 per hour but it will give you the complete spec of the car.

surely the dealer or customer services could do this for you for free & arrange a resolution there & then ahead of the cars arrival

Apparently my sale agent had too many personal problems to bother abt sorting out my order, so the dealership manager had to take over my sale. He says the car has the correct spec radio, so I'll just have to wait and see whn the car arrives in DECEMBER...

Does the park distance control have a visual on the RCD510? I dont know if the South Africa specs differ from other cars.
