Hi people,
May be just about to join the club and purchase a Scirocco but have a couple of questions...
Generally speaking, if a 2.0 GT has the updated steering wheel does this mean it also has the newer 210HP engine? ie were these updates done at the same time or did the wheel come first?
Can someone tell me if I'm correct in the following:
Golf 5 = 200HP TSI
Pre 2010 Scirocco = 200HP TSI (Same as Golf 5?)
Golf 6 = 210HP TFSI
2010 Scirocco = 210HP TFSI (Same as Golf 6?)
Cheers
Does updated steering wheel mean updated engine?

Re: Does updated steering wheel mean updated engine?

Hi Jumping Bean,
The new steering wheel appeared at the beginning of Model Year MY2010 production in May 2009. The 2.0ltr TSi engine update occurred at Wk45/09 as part of MY2010.5 updates, look here Wk45 onwards Scirocco updates - MY2010.5
The quick easy way to recognise a Wk45+ 2009 update Scirocco model is the Climatronic controls. The older 200PS (pre Wk45) will have 3 rotary knobs in a row below two small temperaure setting LCD displays. Wk45+ Sciroccos with 210ps engine will have a the revised Golf Mk6 Climatronic control which looks like an old fashioned car radio set and interfaces with the RCD510 to display the Climatronic settings.
As more definite confirmation you can ask to look at the service book sticker/boot sticker and note the engine code. Decoding the sticker is here ... Boot sticker decoding
200ps is engine code CAW, 210PS will be different (CNC??).
