Its finally here

Post by martinTDI140 »

Well here it is, finally in the metal rather than nuts and bolts in a factory. All present and correct and even had the lead for my I phone!!

The dealer was terrific and handed the car over well rather than just chucking th keys at me. I noticed that the N/S mirror tilts down when selecting reverse too! Didn't expect that without some programming!!

I'm still trying to get used to it but first impressions are that its the best car I've ever had :)) Got some serious reading to do to fully understand all it can do!!! I'll update the blog again once I have got more used to it. I've got my scirocco central sticker ready for the rear view window too!!

Martin. :hyper:

Congrats Martin,

My dealer was much the same in making it a good day at handover and the Scirocco being set up with those little tweaks. Just adds that little extra that makes your day. Don't spend too much time reading and leaving it as a driveway ornament. Go drive! It needs running in ;)

Car looks cool martin,

did you tell the deal you wanted the little tweaks, or did they just do them for you on arrival.

My car does not have eelctric folding mirrors, but I heard that you can set an option when reversing and it folds, is this true?

yes it is there on some cars but.. there was alot of discussion on it last year regarding what options you had to have installed to get it to work & i think the only consistency was that you have to have folding mirrors iirc but that & having the option there in the highline did not guarantee it, just search mirror down.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It's now Monday night and the car has now done just under 500 miles! Its had shed loads of rain chucked at it today too so it's not so shiny now!!!

I love love love it and am still finding little things that make you love it even more! I decided not to bother with the book for now and find out things for myself. Real men don't need instructions!!!!! I love the way you can open or close the windows by holding the lock or unlock button down. I love the sneaky little rear seat compartment light on the right hand side. I love the little lights in the bottom of the mirrors which light up the road at night when unlocking the car! I sound like a kid don't I!!

Re the dipping passenger mirror when you reverse. I got in it today and found that it had stopped working :( On closer inspection I found that I had not put the mirror switch back onto the passenger side or L setting after adjusting one of the mirrors. When I did this is worked again! Not sure if any of you have tried your mirrors set like that, may make a difference.

I'm getting the hang of the new sat nav. My delaer said its suppossed to be the muts nuts compared to previous offerings. I've used it three times today and its great, even redirected me three times due to traffic conditions. It even shows a different icon on the road if you heading towards slow traffic!!!

So far I can't fault it. So glad I chose Rocky (his name). Can you believe I was seriously considering a Toyota Prius (the accountant in me was anyway) :)

For those of you still waiting patiently for your new bady to arrive, hang in there. It is well worth the wait!!

Mick

when you get your car & read the manual you will find that the windows going up/down when pressing & holding unlock/lock are built into the car. mirror down while reversing is only with folding mirrors & even then (as discussed elsewhere) is not guaranteed

no the beep requires adding via vagcom. the version/connection on the scirocco is not compatible with the older cables, have a look through the older threads it is mentioned somewhere.

eta: sorry Martin had to borrow your stunning pics, had some pesky people elsewhere confusing Salsa Red with Firespark Red again :shake:

Evenin all. I'm getting more used to the car and have done 800 miles now!!!

I've been scrowling through the set up menu on the highline computer. In it there is a section for the passenger mirror. You tick it and it works. I've even worked out that you can reset it once it's in the tipped position and it remembers the new setting! The sat nav is great and I've now realised that you can enter most of the postcode rather than city etc.

I'm getting about 57 mpg so far and have run it in (I know you don't need to now but I'm an ex mechanic of 18 years). Love it love it love it :))
