noticed my centre caps on the wheels are now looking a bit ropey, anyone else having any issues, annoying as not used anything too strong on the cleaning front

Yep, I noticed one of mine going . I'll get the dealer to replace it when it's serviced.
Had all 4 done under warranty during the 3 years I had my mk5 gt i- no question. But you would of thought they'd of sorted the quality by now!

Can confirm my local dealer changed all 4 of mine under warranty - in fact he only took 3 as one had fallen out of alloy. I must admit I thought the white streaks were caused by excessive salt use during the winter?

Had all mine replaced under warranty a couple of months ago.I was just going to replace them myself and the parts guy asked how old the car was then said don't buy them they are covered by the warranty. Decent of him, although not the dearest parts still saved me a few quid.

Having read this thread, I stopped by my local VW dealer yesterday and they replaced mine in the spot. I only bought the car 2 weeks ago from another approved dealer too. Seems odd that the approved centre didn't change them before allowing the car out, but hey go!

Cheers guys and girls.

Had one of my caps changed by the dealer only to find they had scratched the alloy taking the old one out. When i phoned to let them know they told me that they use a pick to pull the cap out rather than remove the wheel.

Worth checking after you get these changed. Just another short cut by the dealers leading to poor workmanship.
