Reversing sensor anomaly

Post by hama »

Has anyone encountered this sort of screen image before? There was an obstruction was foliage running the whole width of the rear of the car, though all of it appeared at equal distance. I can see how foliage could scatter the feedback and hence the image on the screen, though it's never been an issue before.

Anyone with experience of this error?

It's still showing the feedback in that odd way. The service is due soon, so was just going to leave it till them. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the sensor casing on the bumper and it hasn't took a hit.

Mine picks up foliage fine, without anomalies, I back up to a hedge regularly - yours needs a check up! Does it work properly on more solid obstructions?

Mine also decided to look odd one day. Reset the RNS 510 and never saw it again.

Bianco: your screen looks like the car is showing as it should on a Roc (or any car with no front sensors), but the sensor trace looks like it is from the display of a car with front and rear sensors (the car is seen from left to right, not top to bottom on the screen, to show both the front end and back end sensor sweep).

Yes, I agree. Very odd given one can not buy front sensors to the Roc. :shake:

but the radios used in the scirocco are also used in cars that do have them available so they have to have that ability.
the quirk has been seen before where you get a whole car http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... nt+parking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; a la front & rear sensors, but you are currently stuck somewhere in the middle. it might just go back to normal randomly one day like the 'whole car parking sensor view' quirk or you might need to get it looked at by the dealers. whatever happens its veyr very random

i noticed a nice thing with mine the other day

It doesn't just see solid objects

If you reverse up to a ditch you get a red bar accross the back of the car to warn you about it

Thought that was pretty cool :)

Not seen that yet. Do you mean a straight red bar, as opposed to the red segments you get when you are close to a solid object.
Some pics would be good if you can reproduce the effect. 8)

yup thats the other anomaly that I mention in my post above retboell. did it go back to normal fairly soon after or did you get the software update too soon after to tell?

It went back to normal after leaving the car for a couple of hours. I think it was the same as the trip computer "timeout". I got the software update just to be sure :D

Some days it just seems to have a mind of its own. Don't know if it is related to the changes in temperature.
