What did you use to stop the sticking window seals?...mine are really bad...thinking of having a trip to the dealer. Bit embarrasing when everyone turns their head to see what the noise is when you take the key out the ignition!!!

Re: Cars in with VW again
Response from technical is that the chasis number doesn't have the mirror down function (go figure) but the guy on service couldn't tell me what the car needed to have it! The quest continues...true wrote:No I put it in for the mirror down thing but they couldn't get it working so have sent a report to VW UK.

I had the same problem. The dealer seemed to know the answer straight away and changed the ignition switch. Must be a lot of cars with the same problem. Now if only I could get the smeary wipers problem sorted..........

Anthony:
Good luck with the wipers - i'm on my 3rd set, and each time there's no paperwork to say when the last ones were replaced, so i'm expecting them to tell me that fair wear and tear has kicked in, as I can't prove that the latest set have only done 300 miles and are a week old. The smear is always in the same place too, right under the knuckle joint of the drivers side only.
That's the only thing wrong with mine though, had no poltergeist issues with windows and lights!

Would you say the noise was like in this post - http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =25&t=2156dchuraman wrote:no i didnt have a whistling turbo, i had a raspy noise at certain revs, turns out it was the scuttle panel vibrating and not being dampened
I've had my turbo replaced but with no effect, mine's more noticeable when the window is down. It sounds like it's coming from the engine/exhaust but after reading this post i wondered if it's the same thing ??

Re: Cars in with VW again
Picked up my Roc last night from the dealership last night really excited Got in to drive it to work this morning for the first time and experienced the window jiggle. Only just got it so I think i may give it a week or two and see if I get a repeat performance. It's not a new car, it was registered in January. Not sure if this will mean if it's there it's not going to go away...

Re: Cars in with VW again
To be honest i thought my noise had gone but its still there, so i guess it is the exhaust or whatever everybody else is having. shame cos its quite annoying!Scotsman72 wrote:Would you say the noise was like in this post - http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =25&t=2156dchuraman wrote:no i didnt have a whistling turbo, i had a raspy noise at certain revs, turns out it was the scuttle panel vibrating and not being dampened

Re: Cars in with VW again
Well it's booked in for Monday with the dealership. The window jiggle has happened quite a few times now as well as making the stereo bleep at random?!?
Hope it's a quick fix!

Re: Cars in with VW again
Hey Guys, don't know if this is related but wanted to see what ye think.
Came back to my car earlier and pressed the open button with delay to open the windows. 2 mins later, got in the car and drove off. When we parked, my girlfriend couldn't open her door so I pressed the unlock doors button on my door, she got out. Then I tried to open my door but it wouldn't open. She had to go around and open it from outside. I locked the car (or so I thought) and about an hour later got into the car and drove home. Got home, she got out no problem, again i couldn't open my door. When she opened it, I got out, and pressed lock, the locking mechanism was clicking away for about 5 seconds (which is unusual in itself) and then the door was still unlocked. When i sat into it, it still wouldn't open. Eventually I manually locked it with the key from outisde, then tried to remote again and hey presto it started working again, albeit showing a different symptom.
Now when I press unlock the windows go down fully (but not all the time). WHen I press lock the windows go fully up and then fully down and stay down. I have to press and hold lock for the windows to stay up....
any ideas what could be going on?
