I have a Scirocco 2.0 tsi which came with a factory fitted rcd-510. I have recently upgraded the unit to the rns-510. The problem is before i fitted the unit everything worked fine but now the mute button on the steering wheel is tempremental sometimes it mutes the music but then other times it doesn't work at all, if i have it on the radio the mute always works but if i have a cd on or i'm playing tunes from the hdd this is when it becomes tempremental. When this happens i either have to press the radio button then press the media button again and the mute button will work or i have to just turn it down via the volume control.
Does anyone else have this problem? Will a firmware update sort this problem? I would have tried it but i'v heard that the firmware upgrades can brick your stereo or just cause other problems?
I would really appreciate any advice

I had this issue. I forgot about it to be honest as it hasn't happened for a long, long time. I did upgrade my firmware so it maybe that this cured it at the same time, or it may be that the problem just went away on its on.
