re the boot Mal it sounds like you need to release your boot stops & bring them out further, RW1 has instructed on this somewhere around here..

Is the boot supposed to go up all the way when u push the button?? Mine just pops out of the lock and u still have to lift the whole thing! The gas strut is not strong enough to push the heavy boot up on it's own! Be nice if it did tho

Here you go.........

10th post down.

If you want it to go all the way up, the bump stops/struts won't do it. There is a way by adding "spring assistors" to the outer strut shafts......... (Not a VW additional kit unfortunately)

no sadly it doesn't do that just pops it out of the lock.
Mal mentions he has to press the button & lift it to release, rather than press to release, pull up to open if you get me

Actually I don't think I'd want it to go all the way up when I release the lock.

Cool, I'll go play later. Guessed it was just simply matter of playing with a stop somewhere but just being damp lazy.
Still can't believe how far my tracking was out and how much better car is after 4-wheel alignment, had 18months of abuse I guess!!
Thanks for tips - appreciated.
