I am (hopefully) taking delivery of my DBP Rocco R next month and I was wonderign about trackers. I have three questions really:
1. Is one included as standard on the R?
2. Are they worth the money?
3. What are good brands of trackers on the market - the only one I have heard of is Chameleon?
Any thoughts welcome.
Trackers
Re: Trackers
1. Nope
2. Yes if you live in a dodgy area or just value your R more than any other car you may have chosen instead
3. Cobra (VAG approved) / Trackstar / Tracker / NavTrak / Toad

Re: Trackers
This is just my view:
1. No
2. Having had my Edition 30 stolen last year - definitely yes.
3. your dealer can sort you out a Cobra tracker - full details in the Scirocco accessories brochure
In the past I have used Tracker - and to be honest their service has gone down hill (IMO), also you're never certain its actually working?
I don't live in a dodgy area. You just need 1 crook to see a desirable car and next thing you know its gone. Its all the hassle of ordering a new car waiting for it, dealing with police, reams of insurance forms, never knowing if its going to get found, wondering how much you're going to get in insurance (if you dont have GAP).
As you can tell I would recommend one.
However - my wife has a Cobra tracker and the service is brilliant - if her car is serviced and they disconect the battery within seconds we get calls on our mobiles and landlines checking that we have the car in our posession.

Re: Trackers
Tracker now does a one off payment whereas the cobra needs an annual subscription i think

Re: Trackers
I have a tracker fitted to the wife ML and hadone fitted in my 330 coupe. Netiher of them have a subscription on them. My thinking is if someone steals it and goes joy riding, ram raiding etc in it do I really want it back?
Chances are I am going to have to make an inurance claim to get the car repqired (new keys, chances are it will be damaged!) so if i am paying out for a repaire I may as well pay out for a new car.

Totally agree, especially having a tdi I don't see it being an intrest to professional thieves, its just gonna be some grotty kids who will undoubtedly trash it.marriedblonde wrote:I have a tracker fitted to the wife ML and hadone fitted in my 330 coupe.
