Now I ordered the factory VW supposedly 'premium' bluetooth kit, which of course works only with rSap phones, namely Nokias. I have an iPhone. Don't worry though I got my dealer to refund the option
I've seen the Roccopedia link page that shows a good fix, using a Skoda Bluetooth unit.
My Q's
* Anyone have this kit fitted, and what is the functionality like?
* I have read in my search that apparently not all the steering wheel buttons work with this kit. Is this true?
* will it work with the already installed microphone?
I can't comment on the Skoda kit Mrk but I can heartily recommend the Fiscon system. It fully integrates into the car and the clarity it superb. Check out the article I wrote on Roccopedia about it:
Thank you for your post. I have thought about the Fiscon, but three things put me off, firstly in all the pics I have seen 'fiscon' is plastered all over the MFD and radio screens. Secondly the apparent incompatability with the ipod/iphone connection, and I can't be bothered selecting this and that everytime I turn the car on, (wheres the so called software updates??) and lastly it is more expensive, and you seem to need a new mic.
I have now ordered the Skoda Bluetooth, so we shall see.
Dunno where you saw Fiscon "plastered over the screen". Yes , it comes up on the top of the MFD when your in the Fiscon mode but at no other time and never on the RCD510 screen. I use an ipod as my main source of music and works seamlessly with the Fiscon - muting for calls etc. Can't speak highly enough of it. My car does have the red mfd though
Hope this helps.

There is a small compatibility issue with the iPhone when it gets confused whether to stream audio over the bluetooth system or through the Mdi. Can't wait for the update though that sorts this issue. It's the only negative though, other than that it's great.
And the so called premium rSap unit is under the 'Drivers' Seat not passenger seat as the Roccopedia states. Can someone change that?
Anyway its a struggle to unclip the old unit and then fit the new proper Bluetooth box in the polestyrene case, but it does go, and hey presto I have my iPhone connected.
And yes it works perfectly with the cars controls and the already installed mic. Plus its cheaper than the Fiscon system by £80, bonus!!
I didn't spec a Phone preparation kit on my Car because I read on here that phone connections were limited with the VW one, so I figured I would go for an after market one (To work with my iPhone and Blackberry.). I assume it isn't much of a hassle to fit one? In particular the Skoda one, as I would like the Steering Wheel and other uses (But not a separate screen like some systems I have seen).
Was thinking though, that as I didnt specify the VW kit, then I wouldn't have a Mic and such so would probably be better of taking it to a third party installer (or a friend with the right knowledge ) as it would probably be too involved for me to do?
I have the 1z0 035 729c Skoda UHV (a.k.a. Basic Bluetooth) and it works great on my MY2010 Roc. It is fully integrated with the RCD510 and the MFA (white) and as a plus you have voice dial. The on-screen interface is identical to the Premium BT but you can not read SMSs on the MFA (not a deal breaker). It works with Symbian phones perfectly and syncs your contacts.
Combusted: I'm really keen to know if you have this added from scratch, or if it replaced a premium bluetooth installation
I have no telephone preparation, but do have the RNS510 and mic for voice activation, and would love to install the skoda kit, but I'm concerned about how much trouble this might be with the cable routing.
Also, does it support a2dp??
Appreciate any further info you or any other owner can give us
Options: Gone but never forgotten; Sumatra, Cruise, Parking Sensors, Flat Tyre Indicator, boot liner, hatchbag, premium sills, SciroccoCentral stickers & hedgehog! Ordered 23rd June 09 Build week 41 Handover 17th Oct 09 Off to his new home July 2016 after nearly 7 years & 88800 miles.
If you have not already got the phone preparation you will need much more than just the skoda box that simmo is fitting.
There is a thread with the options, which I try to find a link for in a sec, as retrofitting the whole kit puts it moneywise in the league of fitting fiscon which has a lot less constituent parts.
yep, thats definitely my concern... shame the fiscon doesnt work off the back of the RNS's microphone really...
I'm assuming its less hassle already having the mic installed, but I expect the loom from the BT unit to the RNS is not exactly easy to install.. Still, i'd love to know how people got on with it
