Daft Question of the Day

Post by coldel »

How do I get the convenience menu up on screen? I got a standard scirocco played with the rocker switch on the stalk etc nothing comes up. Am I going mad?

I drive a: GT 2.0 TSI
In: Candy White
With a: DSG box
Options: Ex-showroom model :)
MY2010 :) white dash display and multi-function GTi-style steering wheel!
So far we've found: Flat Tyre Indicator, RNS510 SatNav with Premium Bluetooth & ipod/media-in connection, Parking Sensors (a must-have!), electric folding/heated mirrors,
Had the stainless sills fitted by the dealer, & luxury mats supplied. Fitted the covered cupholder myself

No daft questions - only daft answers!! Have you got the new-style multifunction steering wheel? If so, right thumb the right arrow button and the mfd display should change - does on my 2.0TSi anyway. HTH

If you don't have the high-line computer than there is no convenience menu. As you are saying that you have the standard model with the rocker switch on the stock I'm assuming that you don't have the multi-function steering wheel. If memory serves, the highline computer and multifunction steering wheel come together. So if you don't have these then you don't have the convenience menu I'm afraid. Only way to change options is to get your dealer to do it for you.

OK cheers people...I think could well be the case, I have played around with it and nothing comes up so assume thats the case. No worries though loving just driving it at the moment, thought I would take it down some tight back roads near me and lo and behold I see a Viper roc parked up not seen it before...

Yep, ED is right. Mid-line MFD as standard on the non-GT models like the 1.4.

I have just taken delivery of a 1.4 TSi, and I have the same problem accessing the convenience menu through the steering wheel stalk.

Is the computer that's installed actually a lower spec one or have VW simply limited its functionality? If the latter, I imagine that there's a back door code sequence that the dealer uses to access the convenience menu. Anyone know what it is?

it is a lower spec bobapollo, to change the options that would be found in the convinence menu on the highline computer you need vagcom.

Or take it to your dealer and ask them to enable what ever options you want.
