Leather seat wearing

Post by Hatter The Mad »

Seeing some pictures of Sciroccos barely 1-2 years old, the leather looks terrible creased and slack. Is this kind of easy wearing common?

Debating whether or not to spec leather or see how I go with cloth and get a custom refurb.

Thanks

Cant say what its like in the Rocco yet.
But from MKV R32 you can tell a drivers seats been sat in , the leather does stretch and hence looks slack, cloth seats stay looking better for longer.
I don't think this a VW specific problem has seen plenty of other leather seats in cars do the same. And my couch :P
Could be that the 2 you saw were not looked after all that well , had a really Fat bloke driving them or someone with a really boney back side. I would go and see a few more 1-2 year old ones with leather and see if they are the same.

But after market re trims are a good option !
how about this ?

Modern "mid-range" cars like the Roc with Leather just aren't as good as their older counterparts. During 2005 to 2007 I had a MR2 Mk2 which was G reg (1990) car with leather. The passenger seat looked like a 3-4 year old while the driver seat, although with creases had no tear repairs.

16 years and reasonable condition, I can't say based on feedback on these forums that VW leather will last that long!

If you look on the Audi TT forum, several owners have had the seat bases replaced under warranty. I'm assuming VAG have a one-stop-shop for seats and leather. As it's all the same company, it might be worth a try on the VW warranty. Some of the photos of saggy seats that have beeb replaced on TTs don't look all that bad.
