Newbie questions

Post by axisofunity »

Hey everyone,

I was lucky enough to be able to get a Roc on with my company scheme. Delivery is apparently the 12th of April, so I guess it must be getting ready to be built at the moment... Couple of questions:

i) Because it's a company scheme they use what is I presume the cheapest dealer to source the car. I've been told it'll arrive into Wakefield. Now since I live in Kent and have a VW dealer 5 mins away I was a little annoyed that I'd have to get to Leeds to pick it up. So, from your experience of perhaps moving home, how are dealer's who didn't sell you the car good at servicing / after care, as I'm not going up to Leeds with every minor problem!

ii) My company said the car can be delivered to my work or home address after arriving at the dealers. Is this going to be someone with trade plates driving it 300+ miles to Kent brand new? Or will this be a transporter? I'm minded to go get it, so I can do the pickup checklist people have mentioned, but it is a serious bother. For sure, I don't want someone driving it 4-5 hours down to Kent before I've had it, so if you think trade plates, that settles it...

iii) I guess I've missed the last date for option adding, since I ordered early Jan! I'm regretting not speccing the Parking Sensors. Anyone added anything a month before arrival? Heh, shall I try my luck with a phone call? Wouldn't mind adding the sunroof as well :)

Anyway, it's a 2.0 TSI GT DSG, Candy White with Leather and a few other bits and bobs.

hey axis

i) Better! my local dealer it seems didn't want to sell me a car so I went elsewhere (other side of the country) but the local dealer has got all the warranty & service work & so far they've been brill, a million times better than their sales department.

ii) that depends on the dealer so you would need to find that out from them

iii) give it a go what have you got to lose if they say no, fine, if they say yes brilliant!! you can retrofit the parking sensors (they will just not show up on the radio screen) re adding the sunroof personally i'm questioning why  butyour choice

Good news on the warrenty stuff, was worried they wouldn't like it as they didn't sell the car.

Regarding the sunroof, you think a Candy White looks better without? Or is noise / weight a factor?

Mine's a company car too, the car came from Milton Keynes and was delivered by truck to me in Cheltenham. I've never had a company car driven down to me, and my company get the cars through GE Capital, if that helps.

I have mine serviced locally (though not in Cheltenham, as that shower managed to break my windscreen whilst it was in their garage, denied it and then said 'madam, you're probably too short to have noticed the break before, it's quite far down!), the VW garage in Gloucester does all the servicing/general fixing up, and they were great when I wanted info on the 'Roc before I ordered, even though I told them I'd not be able to order the car from them.
