Fuel cap release.

Post by rocccosiffredi »

As everybody knows the fuel cap is released by touch. I have some concerns over this as basically anybody can access your fuel tank at anytime (vandalism, fuel theft)!

I would prefer a more conventional means of opening eg by key or by release mechanism inside the car. Do VW not think this is an issue?

do you want this thread deleted, given filler cap is linked to the central locking

you can test to see if its working by using the remote when the flap is open, you should see the locking pin move, this type of mechanism was prone to failure on A3s i was averaging one a year

I do get the odd time at the petrol station when it doesn't unlock but if you get that a lock and unlock of the car tends to free it up.
