Another Candy White GT 2.0 Tdi 170
It was waiting for me when I got to work this morning, despite not being due until at least 10:00. I was so glad I did half today's audit last night so I only had a short day today...
The car's bloody lovely, well worth the long wait (just under six months I reckon, but then I'd made them hang onto it for the last three weeks so it had the 10 plate). Not sure I've worked out the on board trip computer yet; have managed to get the iPod working and finally sussed out how the cd player works. Doh. I've already cricked my neck getting in the car as both it and the door frame are incredibly low after my Mark 5 Golf GT Sport. There's not a huge amount of headroom either, even with the seat all the way down and I'm only 5'9 or so; don't think my 6'7 little brother's going to be nicking this and going for a sly roar. Shame.
I've only driven 16 miles so far this afternoon, just around Cheltenham and Gloucester and already the boy racers are trying to tempt me. Ok. So they tempted me and they lost, but that's their lookout. Not sure I'm going to hang onto my clean driving licence for long.
I'm sure you've all seen squillions of Candys, I've seen one near home this afternoon after not seeing a Scirocco for a couple of weeks, but here's a couple of quick pics I snapped with the iPhone this morning. Spot the forgotten, abandoned briefcase (complete with laptop and no end of gadgetry) at the side of the car.
Straight off the truck:
Briefcase abandoned whilst I drool:
Chuffed to flipping bits.

Might be...
Today's trip to Swansea has returned 47.5 mpg at an average crusing speed of 80mph over 200 ish miles. Happy enough with that.
My best buddy had his Rising Blue 2.0 Tdi 140 delivered on Monday and has already christened his car 'Cyril the Scirocco' and so I'm not left out in the silly naming game my car's now known as 'Eric the Roc.' I'm somewhat ashamed of this.

Whilst I'm flattered that my car thinks I'm normal, how the hell does it know my initials?*
Gave me quite a shock while I was swapping over to Sport for a roar through the Slad Valley.
*NB: This is an attempt at humour, I'm not quite that thick.

Re: Another Candy White GT 2.0 Tdi 170
Oops. Broken windscreen.
Got hit by a stone on the motorway yesterday, and a combination of last night's frost and this morning's moon surface type roads to Hereford now mean that there's a 30cm smile shaped crack on the windscreen.
That's got to be some kind of record; I've had it for 8 days and a 1000ish miles and it's being mended already.

I dunno what you mean about the lack of headroom, I'm 6'7" and I fit in mine perfectly well, so I'm not sure what's going on with yours?
Shame about the windscreen

I think it's the low door frame that's making me think it's low, there's only about 8 cms from the top of my head to the rooflining. Probably a combination of sitting up fairly straight (though not in a typical girly pressed right against the steering wheel with the seat right forward way), too much hair and a big bum!robmx wrote:I dunno what you mean about the lack of headroom, I'm 6'7" and I fit in mine perfectly well, so I'm not sure what's going on with yours?
Sounds like my little brother's going to be able to take the car for a whizz after all.

The door frame does make it seem lower, I do find myself having to duck a little to look out of the side window sometimes.
I was honestly suprised at the head room in the scirocco, when I went to test drive it, I was almost sure I'd not fit and I'd have to go for a Golf. I even tested it on a big hair day and I still didn't have it touching the headliner like I have in previous cars
