did anyone else find a butter knife lodged in their body

Post by crotchsnipa »

evening chaps i recieved my 1.4tsi 160 last night and on the way home i all of a sudden heard a 'boioioioioing' noise every few feet and i had thought i had broken the thing already. i lay on my stomach on a nice wet northern irish evening and found the 6" blade of a butter knife protruding from my undercarriage. i wonder if any of you guys have came accross other oddities like this or has mine alone been dined in during the building process

You've got to admire the Portugese's dedication. In order to reduce the build time deficit on the Scirocco, they've taken to working through their lunch breaks.

Its possible but seems unlikely that within a short distance a butter knife could have got itself wedged in the undercarriage. Think the dealer is the more likely source.
However compared to the stones, branches and other detritus that gets thrown against the under side of your car I don't thing a 6" butter knife is going to do much harm.
Pretty amusing though :shake:

Strange I don't remember seeing that on the list of optional extras :p ....

Very odd. I hope it hasn't wrecked anything.

It's not the first time VW have added utensils to their cars - When you specced the centre armrest on a MK5 Golf, the cupholder used to be a covered rectangular hollow that was divided into 2 cup holes by a VW branded bottle opener, very handy for the drink driver.

Add the bottle opener to the butter knife and maybe VW have the new "picnic" pack, or road rage drunk driver" pack.

Crotchsnipa: Have you spoken to the dealer yet? I wonder what they'll give you to "butter you up" after finding this fault.

I can't wait to hear the explanation they churn out.

Following their successes with the Smoker's pack and the Winter pack it looks like VW are now introducing the Lurpak
