What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Post by Pablos007 »

I ordered mine and paid the deposit to Warrington VW in June, and they indicated a delivery date sometime around the beginning of October. Chased them up again yesterday and they have still only given me an 'estimated' build date of week 45 or 46 with expected delivery sometime in December!! I bought a new Golf R32 from them just over 12 months ago and their level of service is similar again :(

Out of interest, what dates have you been given and have they slipped from the original ones given?

I ordered two weeks ago and my dealer was honest he said your looking at Jan delivery, if any dealer says any different they're talking sh*t. So I was like ok, so I went back on Monday, I have a scheduled build date of week 49, so if all goes to plan and they get a boat (main issue is getting a boat on time), realistically I could be looking at 3rd week of Jan (fingers crossed for earlier).

I'm surprised to hear your one is still scheduled and not confirmed, have you made any alterations after you placed the order?

I think I read somewhere that all Xenon specced cars were subject to delays..

I was originally told it was later because of the metallic paint and options, but they say that's not the case now but don't seem to have a consistent story for me. It's almost if they forgot to order it initially!! I've not altered the spec since the initial order either.

I'll check out about the possible Xenon issue and maybe give them the benefit of the doubt!!!

Probably not relevant to the topic but .... Man I have to admit, the after sales experience with VW has always been crap for me but I never imagined their before sales was just as bad.

When ordering my Scirocco, I was sold already I just needed to place an order, I went with my colleagues to our local garage near work, sat in the demo for 30 mins, playing with the controls, sitting in the back, opening at the boot etc - looking genuinely interested - not a single sales person came to us, and they weren't even busy.

The garage I'm with now isn't out the way but it isn't close either the only reason I'm their is that the sales guy is really decent, and lowered his commission to get me a better finance package - I'll buy him a nice bottle for that! - He's only been there 4 months!

The service I received in 3 out of the 4 garages, was really sh*t.

I went back to the one near my work after a week - still the same, eventually one of them came to me, he's like "oh that’s a nice car - you? thinking of buying it?" I was like "No mate I've ordered one already, not from here though" he look confused, I was like "I came here service was so crap that no one bothered to talk to me, so I placed my order through another VW garage" - he went away in a huff.

The way I see it, I've worked hard for my car, the sales guy can at least show an interest in me rather than just the commission he will earn out of me.

I ordered in the first wee of July and was told from the start end of october but they hoped it might be soon but they just said we would rather be honest and then have good news than give a date and not deliver.

I then got an estimated build week of 38 given to me in august which is towards the end of spetember so it was looking likely for a delivery in october. This has now moved to a confirmed build week of 39 so touch wood I should have the car in about 1 months time.

Pabloss007 - I am pretty sure someone on one of the other sites who works for VW said Xenons were causing the delay as they are beng made by a third party. Thats probably why your order keeps moving back.

a dealer told me that there were issues with xenons and delivery, it may have mentioned it on here but can't remember, they had a guy put a deposit in may/june who specced xenons and is a bit miffed

ordered mine on 19 July and they are quoting week 40/41, our gti pirelli ordered on the same date is ready for shipping, a guy ordered one a week before mine and he is being quoted the same weeks

Rang the dealers again today but still no build date and delivery may stretch into 2009. They didn't say anything about delay due to Xenons or give any reason why they couldn't confirm the build. Have come to end of my patience so cancelled the order and will now probably buy an Audi S3 instead.....

Just had info from the dealer that mine is down for build week 44 (w/c Oct 27th).

Pretty chuffed with that - whats the normal expectation from build week to delivery? About a month?

Better go update the sig!!

Think the norm from build to delivery is 4-6 weeks.

Bet you can't wait now.

Ordered mine this week and have a delivery date of January 9th. I reckon this is pretty finger in the wind stuff from VW though judging by the rest of the posts on here!
