Griding noise from scirocco, any new ?
Hi guys,
I suppose you remember the topic of conversation about the noise from the engine sciroco 2.0 tsi between 2300 to 3000 RPM which start after 4000K , there is new about it?
I went to the local dealer and they have no solution to it despite the noise unbearable.
last talk about that i see been at august ....

Re: Griding noise from scirocco, any new ?
I've got mine booked in for a looksee on Friday morning, I think they're running some engine diagnostics for an hour or so.
I'm probably wasting my time but it's not a good sound, especially when most of my driving is between 2-3k rpm anyway. If it's the wastegate like some people are suggesting, doesn't that mean it's releasing unburnt fuel and therefore unecenomical ? I'm not getting anywhere near the mileage I got out of my mkV Gti for the last three years.

Re: Griding noise from scirocco, any new ?
Sorry guys but your going to be dissapointed. The turbo wastegate 'rattle' between 2-3k RPM is a well known issue to VW. Loads of us have had our cars into the dealers and all have had the same official VW response - The noise is not a fault therefore VW refuse to fix it. In fact I remember VW actually calling it a "Feature".
The rattle sounds terrible and I've actually had people laughing at the car saying it sounds like a tin of marbles!
I tried for months to get this sorted out but VW just don't want to know. Paid 20K+ for a brand new VW that sounds terrible.
After the way VW have treated their customers regarding this issue I'll certainly never buy VW again.

It would be interesting to confirm if this noise can be found on the new 210PS version of the engine as well. I suspect it probably will still be there, but it would have been a convenient place for VW to sneak a fix into the system for all of the newer versions of the car without recalling the older ones for remedial work.

Yes, actually you're right, it sound like subaru engine model 82.
I'm in talks with VW technical main support but all realy going slow with them
in any case expensive car like Scirroco it certainly not natural sound, no matter what VW say because in other word they say: "We sorry our engenire did bed mistake and we dont have solution for you, SO "BYE BYE" "
Second the Griding noise started after 4500 K , also it wasnt in the test drive car, so how it can be naturall ?? i really dont understand ? (the technical support dont know what to say about that).
If no other option from VW side i dont see any option other the claim them in court, because they know about this problem since july 2009 and noting said about that while paid about the car.
For sure i wont buy VW again in case they dont find solotion for this, i really Disappointed.

its very important for people to phone, write into vw on this matter. Its been on going from the beginning. If enough people take the time to do this and mention they will never buy another vw based on this experience, they may just sit up and take notice.

Had mine analysed and road tested this morning, surprise surprise no fault was found.
Just have to live with it I suppose.

I wrote/complained to VW months ago.
If it's still on the MY2010 models then it doesn't seem VW are in any hurry to to anything about it either.

Is this affecting everyone with a 2.0 TSi ? I'm due to take delivery of mine in a few weeks.
Does it affect to Golf GTi also?

Re: Griding noise from scirocco, any new ?
As far as I'm aware this a problem with the TSI engine generally, be it Scirocco, golf or whatever. There's loads of stuff on the net from people in the States with the same engine and same problem.markjp wrote:Is this affecting everyone with a 2.0 TSi ? There's absolutely loads of people with this problem but I could never work out how a few people with the same engine don't seem to have it. Strange.
