Angry at volkswagen...

Post by Slippy »

My black scirocco finally arrived, complete with chips in the bonnet, and a bunch of swirls, however ,VW won't take responsibility for this, as they say the car arrived at their showroom with a layer of sticky protective sheeting to protect it, but I haven't cleaned the car yet, so theres no way i have caused the swirls, where do I stand on this? anyone had a similar experience with VW? this would seriously make me think twice about staying with VW the next time I change cars, as I have seen from old posts on this forum that I am not the only person who has had trouble with dealers in the past.

You ALWAYS get swirls on new cars, and if they don't arrive at the dealer with them they usually put them on for you during thre PDI and Valet!

Stone chips shouldn't be your problem though.

As andy said the swirls will have been done by the dealer after removing the wrap and giving it a wash. Black will show swirls more than any other colour. Only way to prevent this is to tell the dealer not to clean it and that you will do it yourself. The dealers car wash are never that careful as we are with new cars.

As for the stone chips, I would not be accepting a new car with stone chips. If its the bonnet bumper etc they should either swop from another vehicle in stock or respray the complete panel. Touch up paint sticks are a big no!

no, but if i took a photo and uploaded it, you'd see what i mean, my bonnet almost looks like its been cleaned with a wire brush in places! i think a good sealant will take the edge of it, but the stone chips are kind of annoying...

Reject the car. Simple. Chips on the bonnet are unacceptable.

I do have to ask though, are swirls that big a deal? The moment you drive it anywhere, it's going to get covered in grime, come into contact with road salt, grit from potholes etc. That's the nature of driving your car. Mine has marks, two little scratches from flying grit. The only real way to keep it absolutely pristine is to never drive it and mothball it.

normally swirls aren't that big a deal, but these are really bad, all in the same area aswell, around the chips to be exact, almost looks like they noticed it first and tried to buff it... I can't really reject the car since I have already taken delivery of it and driven it, so i'll just have to hope VW sort it out...

they said if I come in tomorrow they will sort it out
