Hi, would someone please be able to explain this to me. I thought the first year increase would be payable by VW as the first years tax is part of the on the road cost. So this show room tax wouldnt hit us? But i then guess the rates for those cars registered from April are a little higher after the first year is that what your saying?

thanks

firstly :welcome:

secondly as I understand it yes it is payable by vw, but they will pass this onto the customer therefore the 'on the road' costs will be increased by a suitably inflated amount

Thanks for the Welcome :)

That makes sense, so what if you ordered before the latest price rise and the car was delivered after April? I take VW dont increase the price and they end up paying it? (I know the VAT is determined on delivery, but now wondering about the On the Road element too)

Thanks

hmm not sure on that, you might be able to thrash that deal out of your dealer but the revised on the road costs don't have anything to do with the last price rise & I really don't think vw would pay it out of the goodness of their heart, so sadly not.

After reading this I was a bit miffed that the newer 210ps cars were less Co2 and hence less tax than the 200ps . Forgot that my tax runs out at the end of feb. Just had a reminder £175 . Stilled pi**ed off I have to pay it but at least it's £25 less than I'll pay next year.
Rant over.

Actually any cars registered after the 1st of April and in band D and below will not incur any vehicle tax for the first year.

Plum

:? as group D is 121-130 this does not apply to any of the scirocco range (lowest being the 140 diesel manual at 134).
