Delivery (again)

Post by christof »

Hi

Spoke to the dealer today, he says my car is showing delivery for early Feb, am I right in thinking it should be being built now in order for delivery in early Feb? I have seen some peeps say their car is at some stage or other and week such and such build but all my dealer has said is 'its showing early feb' since I ordered it.
I personnaly hope its delayed until 1st march as I get 10 reg and lower VAT, I guess I am just a bit sceptical with all the delays.
Any help\advice from people would be appreciated, I guess early Feb seems so close yet so far!

Hi christof,

I think we're basically looking at it being built this week or next if it hasn't been already... there is a boats thread here.. http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 016#p35845" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In terms of VAT equivalent reduction - this is only valid for cars delivered before 1st March - we're still not 100% on what that means if you want to wait for a 10 plate but you definately want your car to arrive before 1st March or you won't be eligable at all.

You could always ask your dealer to hold onto it for a couple of weeks. :)

Thanks for the info man. If I ask them to hold onto it I have to pay the extra 2.5% VAT, however if its delayed by VW then they are liable. I dont really mind 59 or 10 reg its not such a big deal these days. I am just starting to want the car, strange as I have not really thought about it until its got this close to delivery, which is why I was asking about delays would be gutted if its delayed by a lot.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it needs to be delivered by the end of feb to avoid paying the VAT increase then, see http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen- ... s/item/193

Yeah I'm quite torn - i want a new car to be really new but not sure about the 500 squid increase - i ordered before i thought that vw would do a discount so I kinda always thought id be paying 500 quid extra anyways. I am wondering whether the value of the car would alter enough having a 10 plate instead of a 59 after 3 years. Might ask the dealers how much they think the difference would be.

That's ok trix. When I placed the order I was told that as vw had agreed a build slot\delivery for feb then they would be liable if it went over that. I had the dealer group last allocated delivery for feb, basically vw would be breaking that pre-arranged delivery slot. We shall see, I will not be best pleased if they go back on their word.

I guess it would depend if you get that 500 quid back in future value. 10 reg would be nice though!

if you can i.e. you have the funds, get it paid for now.

I paid for my car just before christmas but asked them to wait until 1st Jan to get it registered (new cars are registered from 1st Jan in N.Ireland).

they were happy for me to pay 15% VAT then and hold on for delivery this month.

At the end of the day VW don't see the benefit of an extra 2.5% VAT, it goes to the government anyway

Yeah but they do see the issues of having a 2.5% price cut on the value of the car which is effectively the deal they are doing - the car is still 17.5% VAT but VW are taking a hit and knocking 2.5% off to negate it.

I rang my dealership again today and apparently my car has just gone to build, he said they do not take that long to build so early feb delivery is quite possible. I again checked the VAT situation, he again is adamant I would not be liable for the extra 2.5%. I will keep you all posted as to what the outcome is, hopefully I will have a nice and shiny new scirocco in early Feb :D

how did you manage the 10 plate and 15% VAT?

Dealer giving u the 2.5% discount rather than VW UK?? (they only covered deliveries before end of Feb!)

Dunno, just looking at the paperwork and it does say 17.5% VAT but my payment\price is exactly as quoted under the 15% VAT terms. I think VW have had to take another 2.5% off the car to keep the price the same, she said VW UK have taken the hit and not the dealer. I'm not fussed how they do it as long as the price has not gone up :D

yeah mine was too, they added a "discount" entry on the invoice to bring the total back to what it would be at 15% VAT.

But there was no way I would have been allowed to register the car on 10 plate tho if I wanted to get the 2.5% discount. They made that quite clear!

Me thinks your dealer has messed up! never mind.

Mine is being delivered in a coule of weeks and the dealer told me to my surprise I wouldn't have to ay the VAT rise.

He said they had recieved a list of cars that would be delivered in march that VW are footing the 2.5% vat rise for, and mine was one...only thing I can think this is down to is due to the time taken to deliver these cars, mine was ordered 11 Nov and is bw8....must be the same for yours christoff!!
