Fitting a RNS-510

Post by kenny..c »

Hi

Im sure its been covered before...but....if I buy a RNS-510 from a UK seller will it fit straight into our Rocco without coding..?
Do these headunits actually have a security code..?
Our car has Dynaudio...do you need a specific RNS-510 for it to work with the Dynaudio..?

Anything else to consider..?

Thanx

The units do have a unique security PIN which only needs to be entered if the unit is installed in a different car to the one it was removed from. Unlike other manufacturer's headunits, if the power is lost (i.e. if car battery is temporarily disconnected), the PIN will not be required as the unit will know it is still in the same vehicle.

Any reputable seller should provide the PIN with the unit.

Dynaudio won't make a difference to which RNS-510 you require, there are not specific Dynaudio units. Hope that helps.

You must get a version B RNS510 so it works with the MFSW in the scirocco. A version A wont work with the buttons (MFD will work though). You'll need vagcom to program the rns510 to let it know that dynaudio is installed.

Edit
Forgot to say you'll need a GPS antenna as well obviously, just mount it behind the radio and it works fine. Bought a RNS510 off ebay and installed it into my roc, perfect like its from factory.
