Wow Kev, that is PROPER snow!
How did he get out of the house? Or how much of the snow entered his home for a short visit?

Mines crap in the snow too its the tyres Dunlops they've no tread pattern to dig into the snow so it just spins I had this make of tyre on a V-tech Civic a few years back it was crap in the snow as well, come to think of it I nearly crashed a new CBR600 because the OEM Dunlop tyres f**ked up the bikes handling...
Wait a minute, am I saying Dunlop tyres are shite....YES...
How about a set of these - http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ts/search ... 354018PR1V

Re: Rocco's and Snow
You cannot expect a set of summer tires, like the ones fitted standard on the rocco, to have a good grip in snow. They're just not made for that. That's why humans invented winter tires...you swap the summer tires on your car with winter and you'll see that you have a totally different car (at least in snow).
Do you think the germans were just having fun when they decided that winter tires would be mandatory during winter time?

Re: Rocco's and Snow
Guys quick question as it's possible going to happen with a few people in the coming days.
DSG's and snow - in manuals you can change to high gears to get out of snow/icey situations, but what about in a DSG?
ESP off and slow acceleration?
Also I assume the Winter tyres option on the MFD are for special tyres, not a mode where you can change to high gears!
thanks!

Re: Rocco's and Snow
You have a manual setting for the DSG box and you can use the paddles behind the wheel. That way you can stay in 2nd gear for as long as you can.

Re: Rocco's and Snow
Surprisingly, I find the DSG amazing in snow. I expected exactly the opposite! However, the DSG eases the start tremendously. Whereas less experienced "manual" drivers have to press the throttle along with the clutch, the DSG just slowly moves the car when foot is off the brake with no extra throttle. So even steep hills + ice are not a problem! I must say my winter tires (Dunlop Wintersport 3D 205/55/16) are spot on as well!!!ayc1985 wrote: DSG's and snow - in manuals you can change to high gears to get out of snow/icey situations, but what about in a DSG?
So far I haven't had problems with ESP and snow (ice). The wheels still spin a bit so there is enough power to get you going.

The big snow dump in Oxford has started and we haven't even got to the worst of it yet.

Re: Rocco's and Snow
sick of it now - was supposed to be driving from Glasgow to Newcastle this evening so I could work in the office for the next 3 days but decided against risking the a69 so am now sat on a train which means it's gonna take me an hour and a half to get to work tomorrow morning and around £15 in train fares not to mention the 56 quid to cost to get the return ticket down or the 4 hours it's taken including waiting for transfers.
Re: Rocco's and Snow
