New Scirocco 1.4 TSI 122ps + 19-inch Lugano style pack,black

Post by viper17 »

Latest update from vw

New Scirocco keeps customers in the black
18 Dec 09

Style needn’t cost a packet for the street-savvy Scirocco buyer.

The new Scirocco 1.4 TSI 122PS is available with six-speed manual transmission only, and comes with the same spec as other Scirocco base-trim models apart from the Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) system, which will be available as a £765 option.

The specification adjustment is part of the reason we can offer this new entry level model for just £18,860, which will help widen the Scirocco's appeal.

The 1.4TSI 122PS Scirocco will be added to volkswagen.co.uk on 1 January 2010. This model and the option pack below will be opened for ordering on Dialog on 4 January 2010.

Performance
0-62mph: 9.7secs
Top speed: 124mph
Torque: 200Nm/147 lbs ft at 1,500-4,000rpm

Fuel consumption
Urban: 33.6mpg
Ex urban: 53.3mpg
Combined: 44.1mpg
CO2: 146g/km

19-inch Lugano style pack, black
At the same time we will be offering a new option pack on Scirocco GT – the 19in Lugano style pack, black. This pack, which costs £950, consists of 19-inch Black Lugano alloys and Piano Black decorative inserts.

why would you embarass yourself with 19" rims and adaptive suspension, on a car with such little performance...
poor democratic choice on vw part... i really can't see who the hell would buy this.

Two seaprate annoucements..... 19" is GT, not the 122PS the way I read it.

122PS equates to the old Scirocco Mk2 1800GT and Corrado 2.0ltr 8v.

It's an "anchor model" so advertising can say "starts from..........". Right now with another VW price rise of 2% - 3% being added 01.01.10 and VAT adding 2.5% as well, the Scirocco base range models are pricing themselves out of the market slot in which it has sold well this year. There may also be another manufacturer's competitively priced competing car in the market or about to be released. All about marketing. VW has done it regularly over the years once a model establishes maturity.

(My first Mk2 Scirocco came with a 1500cc 70bhp engine, 0 - 60 in 13.2 secs. But young on £4,200 salary, £5,583 compared to £7,643 for the top model GTi capable of 0 - 60mph in 8.3 secs, it was affordable. As a youngster, all I wanted to do was get out of my rusty Käfer. No easy finance deals in those days, tick or cash. Yet when I did, this new shiney Scirocco had the pants torn off it by Vauxhall Vivas and Ford Escorts for standing starts at lights  . All that matter was..... I drove a Scirocco!! :D :D

And that wasn't the smallest engine, in France they were offered a Polo 1300cc engine. Even the snails were faster than that one I reckon. )

I was confussed.com to start with :? , I had to read it twice. This is how I read it.

You can buy a standard scirocco 1.4 tsi 122ps without acc from £18,860 on the road.

You can factory order the 19in Lugano style pack, black, ONLY on gt’s for an extra £950.00

my bad... didn't read it properly.
gt black backage sounds good and reasonably priced at £950...
it cost be £300 to get my wheels sprayed in gloss black and the lugano's are a £630 extra on the gt at the moment... so £20 for your inside trim bits in gloss black sounds like a good deal to be fair...

Many VAG cars seem to produce considerably higher dyno figure than VAG state, so I would think that is quite possible.

i wonder if the 122bhp model will be our blue motion?

A good excuse for modifying a 2.0 GT, if you have one, is that the 122bhp model will look the same

Not to be snobby but it irritates me that the car will become less exclusive due to cheaper more fuel efficient models being produced, after all its supposed to be a sporty coupe  Not trying to start up the another diesel debate again but the whole reason for me not buying a golf or scooby is that there are too many about!

Rant over , I'm off to refit my rear badging ;)

There won't be that many more about than there used to be with the Mk1 or Mk2. Production rate is only about 1,000 a week, about the same as the Mk1/Mk2. Even then, when the Mk1/Mk2 was into the full swing of things, the Mk1/Mk2 was hard to find on the roads. And the UK allocation is quite small. So you needn't be bothered about the exclusivity being lost.

I have a friend with a Golf MK5 with the 122 engine and he had 137 on the dyno and after the revo remap it went up to 155bhp.

my point is as much a complaint about my own car as it is about the 122. Bloody german manufacturers always do this, producing cars that look identical across the range just with different engines.

If you buy in to owning a sports or high performance car it's dissapointing when that brand or image is diluted by a super slow model being produced (10 seconds to 60 :fall: ). At least the R gets a different body kit. The golf GTI also gets a slightly different look than the regular golf models.

On the plus side at least this may mean we get more members of the rocco scene

I can't wait for an alfa 8c 1.2 to be produced, my car doesn't have the look to be able to pull of playing a CD of v8 sound tracks.

This is what i was able to find but i am not sure if its true or not:
Scirocco 1.4 TSI BlueMotion Technology:
The Scirocco BlueMotion Technology has a 1.4L turbo (122PS) engine with the BlueMotion Technology package. This car features a 68Ah battery and reduced emissions because of special tyres and other gearbox specifications.

I would like the black luganos and piano black trims hope they offer it as an aftermarket option. Even if it is more expensive.

You could always paint the trims yourself. Will cost you £10 for a can of primer and a can of gloss black paint.
