Aftermarket Leather Seats

Post by alco »

I was wondering if anyone has had their cloth seats re-covered with leather? My present Scirocco has factory leather and I don`t think the quality is great, especially as the cost is quite high.

it is worth speaking to Niche (http://www.nicheconversions.com/) Gaz is on here & previously shown some of their work here http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 200#p24200
also I have been recommended Regal (http://www.regalfurnishings.co.uk/) pic of their work from the guy who recommended, here (http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/to ... leather...)

Thank you very much trix. I think I also read that some places are able to reproduce exactly the same design as the factory seats but with full ,higher quality, leather for around the same price. I have ordered an R but haven`t specced leather yet.

ah. if I recall correctly you get the winter pack as standard on the R...? so if you do want to get a custom retrim once you have taken delivery you wouldn't have any problems (if you get the standard car & don't fit the winter pack with the cloth you can't retrofit & will get a cold bum in winter)

True!! lol. I think I will just stay with the cloth seats and decide later on a retrim. I am suprised they are putting exactly the same leather seats as the GT cars in the R....apart from an`R` on the headrests........which you get with the cloth seats as well. I imagine it will be a lot easier to sell an R with leather when the time comes.....but I am not sure how good the factory leather will look after 3 years anyway!!

I read somewhere that the R seats are a bit different.
Bit more depth to them ...although they do look the same to me!

You're in Scotland??

You need to go see Transcal, I've seen some of their work on various show cars and it's some of the best retrimming I've ever seen.

http://www.transcal.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can only echo the comments on poor quality and price of VW leather. Not worth it at all.

Transcal are quoting £1195+VAT to retrim a Scirocco. This is for Full Leather (no vinyl parts!!) and their pics of completed Scirocco seats looks like they do really high quality work.

I just emailed Transcal for a quote. They did my current car in two tone leather and I can vouch for the quality and workmanship. Looks like the price has come down!!!!
