DRL's can't now be turned off!
I had requested that my DRL's be turned off. VW have stated "the facility to do this has now been removed from the cars brain" !!!!! LOL!

I don't think he's got it yet - its just on order at the moment.
Will be interesting to see if these Rocs with their "brains modified" will still have instructions in the manual telling you how to turn off the DRLs.

Re: DRL's can't now be turned off!
not entirely bullshit - i have a week 45 roc and the indicator method doesn't work for me at all! (trust me, i've tried everything)
i'd be inclined to believe the dealership on this occasion...

I bet it can still be turned off via VAGCOM (and therefore by the dealer)

I got my car on Tuesday and managed to turn them off using the indicator method. Not sure if I was week 45 or before build tho. Worked for me no probs. I have xenons if that makes any difference!!

Re: DRL's can't now be turned off!
Anyone elaborate on this indicator method? First i've heard of it, didn't know you could turn them off! Some old duffer came over to me in a garage a couple of months back and told me to turn my fog lights off, tried to explain they weren't fogs but DRL's!! ha

Re: DRL's can't now be turned off!
Was there not mention of a new law stating all cars made after a certain time wud require DRL's? The roc was made a year ago with DRL's to fulfill this criteria but the option to turn it off, now new roc's legally have to have DRL's so can't be turned off?
I remember something like this being mentioned back in the day when people questioned the use of DRL's.

Re: DRL's can't now be turned off!
I think reading the DRL requirements documents, the "type approval" date is the key, not the manufacture of individual cars. Therefore with Scirocco being 2008, its optional but good practice in advance which VW has adopted.

callum
(dates are approximate as my memory isn't that great) any cars MANUFACTURED after (mid) 2011 must have drl's activated as standard, vw is just including them in cars earlier. it is not the case of after the date ALL cars (regardless of time of manufacture) must have drl's activated.
basically they will be able to be turned off somehow, vw are just spouting some bs like they do, it just may be they have hidden the option abit deeper in the settings..

Re: DRL's can't now be turned off!
Or even .. maybe VW have planted a timer in the system so that come 2011 all of our DRLs will be turned on remotely and will never be able to be turned off again.
Or may be there's a bit of paranoia around.
