It arrived....but!
Well went to collect the car yesterday and as I was driving up to the dealer to collect I realised I had five missed calles from him. It transpired that when he was reversing it out of the bay he clipped the car on some tool and damaged the door cill and slight dent on the roof lining. So it has to go back and be repaired....lol never mind.
No point in shouting and getting annoyed, fortunately credit to the dealer for actually being sincer about the whole thing and not just repairing it and telling me nothing.
Will post pictures of the inside later, since it is the new one and with Voice Activated Nav

Ahh what a shame! But like you say, no point getting angry etc. I'm sure it will be repaired and put back to new ASAP. Looking at your spec, you will love the car !!!!! My Candy White TDi 170 looks amazing with the 19" wheels

Re: It arrived....but!
Bad luck on the damage Yellowplum. As you say no point in blowing your top! Tends to get you nowhere in the long run.
I've never owned a BMW but do you really feel it's better built than a Beemer? Give us a few examples.
Enjoy the driving. I'm still loving mine. Always trying to resist revving it into the red line whilst running it in. Not long now.
Look forward to seeing some pics uploaded

Re: It arrived....but!
Sorry to hear about the damage but at least the dealer had the decency to admit it. I had an A4 delivered a while back with paint damage and the dealer tried to pull a fast one.
I'm afraid I also have to disagree on the BMW comment. BMW without a doubt have the edge on build/feel quality but are let down by the lack of standard equipment. I drove a new 330 Coupé last week and that really is something else, felt so planted and solid but then you have to appreciate it's a £40k car.
The Scirocco is ok, but if you look at the interior plastics and give them a push, it could be better. Then again it's a £20k car.

Just curious as to how much damage was done to the car, I know you mention the door sill was damaged and a slight dent on the roof lining. Will the car have to be painted? I know you're saying there's no point in shouting but personally if it was me & the car had to be sprayed I wouldn't be accepting it, but only my 2 pence worthyellowplum wrote:Well went to collect the car yesterday and as I was driving up to the dealer to collect I realised I had five missed calles from him. Sorry to highjack the post but I have to disagree with the BMW issue.Scirocket wrote:Sorry to hear about the damage but at least the dealer had the decency to admit it. I had an A4 delivered a while back with paint damage and the dealer tried to pull a fast one.

I owned a 320 M sport. Horrible, harsh ride due to the awful run flat tyres, they track every imperfection in the road surface, it almost feels like your not in control of the steering. BMW reversing sensors are rubbish. Servicing costs are high, handbrakes wear out, wheels crack (again due to runflats).
I drive a 530D Touring at work and have no love for it at all. 110,000 miles 57 plate, we have two identical with the same milage, both broke their cam chains and totaled the engines. New engine £10,000 Ok when it doesent belong to you and is covered by warranty but at this mileage most will be over three years old and it will have expired.
Give me a VW any day.

Hmmm, interesting to hear this. I knew about the wheel issue (BMW have recently removed the rims from sale) but surprised to hear the other comments. We have a number of BMW's at work so will be interesting to see if they develop problems over time...pete1747 wrote:Sorry to highjack the post but I have to disagree with the BMW issue.Scirocket wrote:Sorry to hear about the damage but at least the dealer had the decency to admit it. On the flip side, I've also seen Passat and Golf Tdi's with less than 10k on the clock blow head gaskets like they're made of paper. These are cars that are under 6 months old, not good.
Give me back my Mk1 Golf Gti any day - 21 years old, 175k on original engine and box. I guess the bottom line is they don't make em like they used to!
Anyway, apologies for the hijack was just interested with the comments. Hope the dealer sorts the 'Rocco quickly for you

do you prefer a real wheel drive? do you find it gives more fun per miles than a front wheel drive car?yellowplum wrote:Stlll getting used to it being front wheel...lol but other than that built far better than a BMW - just trying to get the boot liner for it now...

Re: It arrived....but!
And another one who is going to jump in on the BMW/VW debate. I was originally a VW man through and through and have had a fair few golfs in my mtime and still own a mkI Gti (I stopped buying golfs when the mkIV came out) Since then I had an A3 (nice car, crap dealers and a little dull to drive) and then moved onto BMs. They are without doubt a better product. The dealer experience is also a lot better but then again you are paying for it.
My current 330i Coupe with all the options lists at over £42K so I would expect it to be better than a £22K Scirocco.
I cover about 45K a year in my cars so they do get used and the BMs have been the most reliable cars I have owned. I have swapped out the run flats on them as soon as I have collected them from the dealer so have no isses with the ride. If I wanted ultimate comfort I would have one for a rover 75.
Their servicing is very good as well but you do, again, pay highly for the priviledge.
I guess it is horses for course.
I moved to the VW as I have been hankering after a hot hatch for the last year and the Scirocco seemed to fit my needs. If it is half as good as my coupe then I wont be disapointed (My test drives have shown it is going to be lot better than that!)
