Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Hello all,
New to this forum and site and have used your advice and general help very much in the last few days! Thanks for that
Well I've taken the leap of faith and ordered my R
Well happy about doing it but I'll be sweating when I have to start paying for it...
Didn't get a single penny off it through my dealer which I kind of expected but still a little disappointed in.
Was going to go for normal Roc a while ago but have been holding out for this bad boy for a while and thought to myself-what the hell!!
I just hope it's in the 1st batch.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. One has already been ordered through my dealer on Sat

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Got my GT last jan, ex demo car..wouldn't be changing it so early except the R looks to good to wait , not really loosing out though as I bought when the dealers were desperate to shift cars and now the market is a lot better so the GT will be one of the cheapest cars to run for a year I've had.
Planning on keeping the R for a few years though, may even play around with the chipping etc a bit once its run in

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Ive had mine since October 2008 and am considering a change, if you dont mind me asking how much did you lose in a year? I notice my local dealer is selling equivalents to my Rocco for more money than I paid back in 2008.

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Hi I didn't loose much at all, but that's because the dealer i bought from was shifting stock at cost pretty well, bear in mind last jan even some VW dealers were though to be on the edge of going under...
But values of second hand Rocs is very good at the moment, probably a bit too high , which is another reason I am changing now as in the new year it's thought they will probably fall to a more realistic level.
Try looking at some car valuation sites and so on, if you're trading on should get 17-19k for a good condition GT which, if you bought your existing one with discount in the first place, makes the annual depreciation very good, but my guess is it won't be so low for year two. Same happened with the Eos when it was new, very high residuals for the first 18 months but they have fallen a lot now. ( in fact you may remember the same was true of the Corrado for the first few years, the values were very high for ages but then suddenly stared to fall to a sensible level) .
Hence buying a new R at the present is not such a bad deal, although obviously you are moving up to a more expensive model and that will add to the change cost. Generally I've found ( i've run new VW's for many years) that special models ( especially if they are well looked after and you don't let the mileage get too high ) hold their value much better than standard cars or ones with loads of extras, the most recent example of that was a Dark Flint Beetle Cabrio which I ran for three years and got back 68% on trading on . Extras are a sure way to loose as they tend to be zero rated at trade, far better to buy a high spec standard model like the R and not to add to many bits, unless you're happy to bear the cost of them when you change.
Anyhow apart from all that the new R is a sexy car to be seen in and got to be one of the nicest (sensibly) priced cars around at the moment so sod the money and live!

I cant wait to get it, im really struggling to decided on colour, black or blue, black or blue my GT is black and the blue looks awesome in the shots i have seen, but i know its not going to be the same i saw a rising blue scirocco yesterday and it looked nothing like it.

My order was placed on Sunday 1st Nov and faxed first thing Monday 2nd so....... I feel quite confident I WILL get one, but there is still a little doubt at the back of my mind

Tell me about it, my dealer seemed to think there was no problem for a march delivery but nothing confirmed so far.LadyRocR wrote:Same here Spamdog!spamdog wrote:Should i be worried? Dealer said no order confirmation yet from VW yet ...no news is good news?

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Seems strange some of you haven't had orders confirmed yet..due to the various concerns over availability on here around the time I placed my order(15 Nov) I chased my dealer on this issue. He told me that it is standard service from VW that any orders should be confirmed within 48 hours ( two working days) of being placed . That doesn't allocate a specific production week as that is then advised soon after ( usually two to three weeks later) . If the production allocation for a year is full then the order will not be confirmed as I understand it.
I have had several new VW s in recent years and this has always been the system and I have never been let down yet. Without wanting to raise anyones fears on this issue it does seem strange that some dealers seem either to not be aware of this point and have not gained the confirmations yet.
Maybe a call to Milton Keynes to clear up this point would be worthwhile and then hassle your dealer. I know I would if my dealer hadn't confirmed acceptance of mine.
Hope mine goes ahead ok now!

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
I have a Order Number from my dealer
and I was told it is part of there November 09 allocation.
they said they would update me with any news, although the person I placed the order with is on Holiday this week.

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Very worrying indeed, but what can I do?
The dealer is telling me the order has been sent but no confirmation yet.
A call to VW may be in order!
Just to let people know as there seems to be confusion, people that have been told their order has been taken this is probably correct.
Stage 2 is to know you have been allocated 1 of the 500 cars.
Stage 3 is receiving an actual build date.
I'm pretty hacked off at the mo if people that ordered after the initial 2 week period are going to get a car and I won't after being first at my dealer

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
But Dutch Boy....... the ordering process for the R has been different to normal ordering systems to create fairer allocation according to VW.dutch_boy wrote:Seems strange some of you haven't had orders confirmed yet..due to the various concerns over availability on here around the time I placed my order(15 Nov) I chased my dealer on this issue. All orders placed by dealers from 30th OCt for 2 weeks would go to head office for them to then allocate /confirm orders for the first 500 cars.. Only at the end of 2 weeks would orders for this first 500 be confirmed. I ordered on 1st nov so my order was faxed on 2nd and I still do not have confirmation that I have one of the 500 Rs. I have an order form etc etc and a fantastic dealer who is chasing for me... but as yet.. no news

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Does anyone have the best number for VW head office to start chasing them up about orders?
Can't believe VW can't tell our dealers how many of the 500 allocation have been ordered so far or at least up to a certain date
Coming up for a week now and still not a sound from my dealer about my order I hope it all goes to plan!!

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
Hi all, this is my first visit to this forum
I've placed an order for a Roc R too, now I'm wishing the next 4 month away
I'm currently driving a 2.0 Tsi GT Rising Bue, I've only had it since may, and I've loved every second spent being the wheel.
I placed my order on 11th November and have had my comms number, which I got on wednesday 2nd december. The dealer rang to confirm the spec ive ordered and everthing was bob on!!
I rang VW customer services with the comms number to hand ust to see if i could get anymore info out of them regarding build times, but the couldnt confrm anything!! They did tell me there will be 250 rocs and 250 Golfs built per year for 2 years....making our investments that lil bit more special

Re: Anyone else ordered one?
New to this site, just found it.
Just ordered a Rising Blue R DSG. Will be some change from a Touareg I have at the moment. It will be faster than anything I have owned before by 4 secs 0-60!!!! Tried a GT as a demo with a DSG and loved it. Great car.
Ordered today, guess I will have to wait a few months before I see it
