Pano Sunroof

Post by digger »

Fella Mods and Roccers, I'm after some advice.....

I'm just about to order a scirocco and was going to go for the pano roof.

BUT...... having looked in the brochure I've only just twigged that it only tilts up, rather than sliding back.

So, two questions....?

One, am I correct in the way I've read the brochure and two what are people's opinions, good, bad or indifferent on the pano roof?

:welcome: digger

yes you are correct it only tilts it does not open fully

I haven't got one & personally never even considered one, have seen one with & have to say imo I don't like how the roof ends up with the huge black patch on it. its ok on black or white but other colours i'm not convinced at all.

do you want to specifically see the sky while driving?
you need to decide if it has any benefit to you..

Digger,
You are correct, it only tilts (and not by that much). I bought a car from stock becuase I was not prepared for the long wait so I had to go with the options that were already fitted which meant the pano roof. I quite like it now as it makes the very black interior a bit lighter but if I was ordering from scratch I don't think it is worth the money so I would not bother. It also suits some body colours better than others so take that into consideration.

I didn't order one on mine, although I was able to take a test drive in one that did and one that didn't. It was noticeably noisier with the glass roof and with the lack of opening, I didn't really see the point.

It really does suit some colours better than others though. It works on Candy White as the contrast it nice, Deep Black because you can't really see it and I thought it really suited Viper Green when I saw it.

I was quite surprised when someone on here posted a picture of the pano roof from the inside, as it just looks like any other sunroof. I like the look from the outside, but it doen't look like you get the benefits from the inside.

Just googled a picture as I can't find the one someone else posted:

That my pic posted above.

I thought the pano roof was worth the money as it birghtens up the dark interior quite a bit. Its also very good when you actually use it, i always tend to use tilt on a sunroof so this one is fine.

Yeah SPOGSHD is right, it is mostly useful to break up the expanse of white on the roof of a candy car!, consider it a £600 aesthetic.

I think it's worth it just for the class it adds, and when white goes out of fashion we'll be able to say there is less of it on our cars :D

I guess a lot comes down to personal preference

I like the closed in feeling you get without the sunroof, I find it adds to the sporty, coupé feel, especially as mine is all black interior, roof lining included 8)

Also, summer is very hot here, a sunroof is the last thing I want, gimme aircon any day !
