Had a sit on one yesterday in Loughborough in the VW dealership. It was white and very nice. The only thing I didn't like was the table cloth style seats!! Nice and figure hugging they were though.

was in dealers today arranging a test drive, they have a 3 door in red in showroom, i loved the cloth checked seats, car has some nice quality detailing on the exterior, contraversial but i actually prefered it to the scirocco which didn't have the same presence next to it, i know £ ofr £ its more but i can see why, in reality i wouldn't tick the leather box or ACC

I just had a look around one and it looked very nice in red, the exhausts and rear diffuser look the business, id happily have one if i didnt have the roc, tbh its close to which one i prefer but as the roc is cheaper and gets more as std id prob say better the devil you know.

Wander which would be quicker round a track, the gti looks to have lower suspension than the roc

Reviewed in this weeks Autocar magazine.

Rocco looks like much better value in comparison.
You can easily spec the golf up to nearly 30k without being terribly extravagant. Like the R, I think it's a bit overpriced for what it is.

Big boring.........

Had a look round a 5 door GTI yesteday.

I liked the wheels, the red stiching on the steering wheel and the red in the grill. The rest was just boring Golf.

Golf R spy pics

Looks like the GTi with the rocco R front bumper/DRLs, twin exhausts in the middle and a slightly bigger boot spoiler.

Actually you're right. I got the two of them mixed up. Auto Express is so rubbish that reading it actually makes me murderously angry!
