Driver and Passenger Mirrors
Was parked and was hit by a truck on my passenger side mirror, nothing major but some of the paint is chipped off the top of the mirror. Before I go get it detailed, the plastic cover infront of the mirror has a few dents and scratches. Does anyone know if this part can be replaced by VW? Or is it a single part with the mirror?? I am asking because I dont want to go get the paint detailed and then when I go ask for them to replace the grey plastic part they tell me I need to replace the whole mirror! Anyone know if these are two parts connected together?

Ok thanks, Do you know if the mirror is directly connected with the plastic front cover or they are separate parts? From the looks it looks as they are separate ...

It doesn't appear to be a seperate part you can order therefore you need to get part (1), there are different variations of it and depending on when your car was built and (electric foldng mirrors option) those prices come in at £80-£140, you will need to go to your dealer and they will be able to confirm the actual costs involved.NYHC wrote:Ok thanks, Do you know if the mirror is directly connected with the plastic front cover or they are separate parts? Do not try and take it apart yourself as you can easily damage it, the glass alone is £30 for the left and close to £40 for the drivers side.
Hopefully the screenshot will give you a better idea - but please go along to your vw dealer.

Re: Driver and Passenger Mirrors
Doh, just managed to whack my drivers side mirror into the driveway, only bit that seems to be damaged is the top cover (number 13 in the pic) and a bit has broke off the indicator, rest seems ok. Can anyone help with prices etc? Thanks

Re: Driver and Passenger Mirrors
The mirror cover, i.e. the part that is painted, simply clips off. It's very easy and takes two minutes. Use a plastic trim tool so you don't scratch anything and wedge it between the outside edge and apply pressure. The mirros housing will unclip from that side and then you just turn it in towards the car to pull it off.
