Post by joe4186 »

hi

has anybody used an iphone in their roc, i was wondering if and when you connect it to the ipod connector, does it require the phone to switch to airplane mode, meaning i cant recieve calls at all while using it, my iphone has done this while using mercedes ipod conector system, very annoying....... was wondering if its the same set up, its probably the phone im assuming so no way around it???????????????????????

thanks joe

Joe,

I use my Iphone in my Roc with a VW Touch phone kit and find when I connect it to the MDI cable the phone asks if I want to place it in Airplane mode. I just say no, the phone still accepts phone calls and plays through the cars RS510 headunit no problem. Occasionally I have to tell the Iphone to use the Touch connector instead of Dock connector (options withn the IPOD application) as it is using bluetooth.

As above, no probs with mine, it usually asks if you want to go into airplane mode but just ignore that and all should work perfectly. On first connection you may have to press selection (i think) on the touch screen to prompt it to connect, but after that it'll work fine.

Altho, I have found that if you recieve a call or text it will sometimes disconnect itself from the headunit and leave you in silence until you disconnect and reconnect the phone.

This is because mobile phone tech moving forward quicker than Vw. They will eventually bring out softwear to match. Hopefully sooner rather than later coz its a pain.
