Bulb warning/Canbus

Post by alanstead »

does anyone know what current has to be drawn from the bulb warning system so as to not activate it. Does it vary depending on the bulb it is checking, or is it a set value that just makes sure that the bulb is healthy. The reason I am asking is I have just found some LED bulbs that fit the DRL's and they draw 5w. I wonder would this keep the system happy, or would it have to be 21w as thats what the original bulbs are??

They are the ones I have in the DRL position ...BUT...you WILL need a resistor fitted....

Image

If you fit one on the drivers side and a normal bulb on the passanger side everything works great......as there is enough load for the CANBUS to be happy.....but when you change both the dashlight comes on and powers down the circuit. And for some strange reason if you put a resistor in both sides that doesnt work either....?? I found one resistor in the passanger side gets everything working fine.

Mine have been fitted for nearly a month now and they look great!!...

Hope that helps
