Rcd 510 pre outs ????

Post by robmx »

Just wondering if anyone knows if the rcd510 has any pre outs to run amps?

I'm hoping for at least one to run a subwoofer

Anybody know?

I'd guess the answer is yes, as the Dynaudio has an amp under the passenger seat and you can have that in conjunction with the RCD 510.

I hope that's the case, was really hoping I could carry most of the stereo across from my golf.

Cheers for your reply.

If it's anything like my Audi, you can get a pre-out converter from the likes of Auto leads, but you'll more than likely end up with a ground loop as the earth wiring on VAGs are usually pretty naff, but then they take less voltage than the likes of Alpine/Pioneer units.

I'm looking to keep the original headunit, but fit an Audison Bit One, which will then sort out the Equaliser curve properly and give me some pre-outs. I'd probably rip out the standard speaker system too, as it's awful.

Ok, so it looks like I need a converter, that's not a problem I guess.

I with you on ripping out the standard speaker system, it's ok, but it's not very refined. I'm now contemplating transferring my rainbow's in from my last golf sooner rather than later.

It's just the fear factor of running wires around a new car that's stopping me at the minute, plus the lack of pre amps would mean the running of a single amp rather than the two amps I already have.

I'll get there eventually.

There's channels for running the wiring on my VAGs, not sure on the Rocco till I pull it apart though. The only problem you may face is getting speaker wires into the doors, fiddly but not impossible.

The speakers are bound to be cheapo paper coned jobbies in there!

Not looked at the doors yet, but if it's anything like my golf it's going to be a pain, I had to drill the twist connector blocks to be able to push a decent gauge speaker wire through, horrible job. Got to worry about where to hide my crossovers too. I quite enjoyed doing this in my Golf, but then again, it was worth a tenth of what the rocco is.

If you manage to pull yours apart before me, make sure you let me know how it went?

Took a trip to my local audio place last friday and they told me they could fit an audison twin pre out box for £95, so it looks like I'll be getting this done as soon as I can.

Can't wait to get a sub hooked up as I'm finding the standard stereo more and more disappointing every time I turn my music up.
