New Toyota Celica...
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoe ... turns.html
IT’S the news that coupé fans have been desperate to hear – the Celica is back! Toyota has resurrected its most famous sports car, in the shape of this head-turning new machine – and it’s set to blow the Volkswagen Scirocco away.
Called the FT-86, it will make its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. And although Toyota is calling it a concept, you can expect to see the new model in UK dealers next year.
As well as the Scirocco, the Celica will go up against other reborn coupés such as Vauxhall’s Calibra and Ford’s Focus-based Capri replacement. So buyers will have the widest range of affordable two-doors for more than a decade.
A big selling point will set the Toyota apart from its rivals, though – it’s rear-wheel-drive.The FT-86 is named after the Corolla AE-86 – a rear-driven coupé that achieved cult status among the Japanese ‘drifting’ community. It’s the result of a Toyota and Subaru joint venture.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. In my view this is as pretty as the old one which was hideous!

I like the look of it to be honest, elements of a 350z [roofline] and a RX-8 [front grille] showing through there. That said, if its a show car at the moment, it will probably change loads!

Re: New Toyota Celica...
I'm kinda with Evil Derboy here
I liked the old curvy Celica and MR2 more than the more recent squared off models
This new one looks very much like an Infinity to me, I guess that may be the origine of the thing
Doesn't look bad though

Re: New Toyota Celica...
The front end reminded me of the last Batmobile!
Now I might just get away with that if I was a superhero with a cape, but sadly I'm far from it

At first glance I like it. First Celica in many years that does not instantly scream hairdresser to me !

Re: New Toyota Celica...
I like the front, back is ok. Not sure about the A-pillars though, I'd prefer body coloured. Be interesting to see if it lives up to the claim of blowing the Roc away though...
Will probably test drive when it comes out

Ever seen fast and furious: Tokyo Drift? If you haven't, I really wouldn't bother, but its effectively what they do in that film. Pick a track [or street in their case] and power slide round the corners at silly speeds.

Re: New Toyota Celica...
looiks good but i used to own a previous celica and while i loved it it was nowhere near the roc in terms of road holding, performance and in particular interior fit and finish the roc just feels like a much better car and the new celica will probably be let down by the same things again and it has a starting price of £22000, its performance figures are slightly worse than the roc the only thing that i can see thats better is that it is rear wheel drive

Re: New Toyota Celica...
Only thing I would say is that when I come to change my Roc in 2 or 3 years there will be a lot more options on the table to look at. Not that I'm at all dissatisfied with my Roc.
Re: New Toyota Celica...
dunno bout it,
the colour is hideous for a start, alloys are really hideous. all in all its a hell-no.
