Does anyone know whether it's possible to fit a roof rack to a scirocco?
There are none advertised by VW and I've heard that there are no anchor points around the doors either.
This could be a problem for me as I've ordered a car (with a pano roof) but need a roof rack for my surf board.
Any feedback will be gratefully received....
Steve.

Thanks Kev.
I have seen these at the local surf shop but I'm not convinced that it'll fit a two door car securely enough to take a board - with four doors you can spread the bars apart further.
Also, I've been told that this type of roof rack (ones that strap to the car) rub against the car a bit and when combined with sand that'll get blown onto the car at the beach, can damage paintwork.
I'm looking for a more conventional rack that'll clip around the door/window frames.

Steve
Previous thread had a link to the scirocco accessories brochure which has roof racks I have pasted the link
"Volkswagen Genuine basic rack provides the basis
for that; to it can be attached items such as a ski
and snowboard holder, a bicycle holder, a surfboard
holder or the useful kayak holder.
Item no. 1K8 071 126"

Thanks LCM!
That's saved me from canceling my order
It's bonkers that VW can't get this on their own web site yet:
http://www.volkswagenaccessories.co.uk/accessories/home
also the dealers I've spoken to have actually advised me that there is no roof-rack available for this car.
I'll call my local dealer on Monday and make sure that the part is actually available.
Cheeers - Steve.

How does that fit on then? As there are no bits on the roof sills like cars normally have.

No, there's no anchor points. I can maybe see that rubbing on the paint a little too, but no biggie, i'm sure it'd polish up again.

I think Dave's right - there are no anchor points and this may rub against the car a bit.

As above, any news on the micksgarage rack?
I need a rack pretty quick as I don't really want to be putting my bike on the rear bench as it definitely won't fit in the boot.

No not yet fella
My Roc only got ordered at the end of September so I'm not expecting to get it until around Feb time.
Thule siad they might have something available around christmas time so I'm holding out for that hopefully.

I like the idea of a Thule one, as I've got a Thule bike carrier.
But, Polo Classic, if you could put pics up of yours when you get it, i'd be interested to see it and hear your views on it?
Cheers.
